Been playing CoD2 recently cause I love it ^^, and I been getting really bad FPS, no idea why either, my specs 8800GT, E2200 2.20GHz, Only 1GB of ram, but surely I should be getting 125 fps constant, its around 80-125 and its really bugging me, also I'm playing @ lowest graphics possible

80-125 FPS =]

omglame 80fps sux wtf.. i canz be pro now?

Really if you're looking more at your fps meter than the actual game, then I doubt you'll be enjoying it very much. Just enjoy the silky smooth gameplay of >60 fps and kill some Axis :p

Alright no need to troll and tbh don't see why it is so stupid to ask to be quite honest, it is quite a dated game, my system isn't that bad I have recently formatted and I use to be able to get 125 FPS on CoD4. Earlier it was running fine @ 125 constant and now suddenly its dropped to 80, and thats when its going good, it drops to 60 and around 20-30 in smoke. Maybe I don't like it because I'm use to my game being smooth.

Sorry if you think its a **** question, but if so why post? It ain't helping me at all and I can't seem to figure out why its dropped so I thought I'd ask on here, little to realise that most of the posts in here would be people trolling. I can see I'm not gunna get any more helpful posts so close the thread or something..

Shame there wasn't this much information in your original post...

You omitted the fact it went down to 20fps at times - which I would constitute as a problem. Your first post complained of a minimum of 80fps

The reason you're getting 20FPS in smoke is most likely because you have alpha texture multi-sampling enabled. Basically transparent and alpha surfaces like ring-mail fences and smoke are multi-sampled and AA is applied to them. This is one of the most taxing effects a video card can do. If you walk right into most games' smoke with alpha surface AA on, it'll slow down even if the game is years old. The 8800GT would struggle with CoD2's alpha textures and effects even though relatively it's still an old game.

Just a technical quirk. Even the latest and greatest video cards struggle to render anti-aliased smoke.
