Hi all,
I suspected the drive in my customer's laptop was failing and ran it through some HDD checks - seatools it passes the short generic, but fails the long generic and the short dst, but passes SMART check.
Crystal Disk - no errors and the drive status is 'Good'
Dell's own diagnostics built in - Hard Drive fails the short generic.
What gives?
It's a Dell XPS 12 laptop with an m-SATA drive.
The problem originally was that the computer was hideously slow and kept freezing up, I ran chkdsk /r /f through cmd in the recovery environment and it fixed a load of bad sectors etc. and when it rebooted it was fine, very nippy and fast - that's when I ran it through the HDD programs.
