I've just spent a wonderfully fruitless 3 hours at my brother in law's trying to get his network working properly.
The problem is, he uses his main machine (XP home) to share his cable internet to the rest of his network using ICS, normally it works fine, but for the past few weeks the other machines on the network have not been able to connect to the internet for browsing.
However there is a twist which is:
All the client machines can see each other and the main machine
All the client machines can transfer files between each other
All the client machines can ping internet sites (BBC etc)
All can access google
What they cannot do is access other sites, for example whilst they are able to ping and find bbc.co.uk they cannot load it.
I've tried resetting the connections on the clients and the server, manually specifying the connection settings on the clients etc.
Can anyone shed any light on this as it's going to end up driving me nuts.
