Odd problem

Hello @ all,

I have had a strange problem and wondered if any one may have had similar problems.

I had running, BF2142 and BF2 i reinstalled these games after i purchased my X1950 XTX because i was running 2 6600GTs on an SLI m/b now changed it to normal mode and running a single card.

I installed Company of Heros and when i tried to run BF2 i got a shader error and it would then just crash to desktop. then i installed Joint task Force and BF2142 stopped working, it would just crash to desktop. and i could not understand why. i have uninstalled both and reinstalled, and now BF2 just crashes to desktop. i do not know how but i managed to get 2142 working, but Bf2 still dont wanna work, and it sucks, because i like playing Bf2, i play on a private ranked server, with a legal, yes i said legal, copy, becuase i like the players there, if any one likes BF2 then try to find the IBC server, trust me, you will love it, and everyone there is friendly, look out for players such as M@verick, and anyone with IBC as caln tag.

Cleared any old config files from the bf2/142 folders? It might still be trying to load under the old sli config, I'm not sure where these files are saved as I'm at work, but check my docs for save files etc.

Worth a look in any case :)
 
Clutching at straws I guess, I'm certainly no expert, but... ;)

Did you install a new version of dx9 when installing coh or task force? I've had a few different installs of dx9c and a couple of games havent worked under certain ones - notably condemned criminal origins, that needed the directx that came on the disk.
