A couple of times over the last few days, my main PC has failed to start up, at least so I think......the system all powers on, fans etc., but no display is output so I am not sure if anything else is going on....

First, I thought perhaps my recently installed 8800GTX OC may be at fault/not installed properly so swapped in a cheapo 6200 PCI-e card.....same issue :(

In the end, I resolved it by removing CMOS battery (which is in good nick, incidentally) and then the system booted fine first time once put back together.....a week has now passed and the same thing happened again today.....haven't done the battery thing yet, as am out for the day, but trying to decide where the problem may lie......motherboard dying ?

(System as per sig - main PC)

Kinda my thoughts, as gfx card was initially then quickly disproved with the replacement card being put in........thing is, it has only just started to happen......I had a GTX, changed to a 2900XT and then back to a (different) GTX.......

CMOS battery is under the primary gfx card on this board :( so don't want to have to be doing this thing for long ;)

BIOS is pretty much latest, board has been fine until now.......can't think what else would be the cause.....

Well, I measured the voltage on a multimeter ......

Gonna try the same again, as I am home now......
