odd question on cooking?

i admit - i am a complete NOVICE/NUMPTY when it comes to cooking and no one i know uses a slow cooker to do a casserole.

my question is this -
do i just add a bit of water and frozen vegatables to it, bit of precooked beef, and some oxo to it and leave it for for 9hrs?

i cando spag bol no problem but casserole is a nice idea but i get lost by it.
 
But is anyones meat precooked or is it ok to add frozen beef pieces to it?
Don't wanna make myself ill.

How long can I keep fresh chicken in the fridge? Couple of days or 24hrs like when you defrost it?
