Odd RAM issue

Hope you can help guys.

I have 4bg running on Vista 32bit.

I have this issue where on the first PC start-up of the day, Windows is only showing 1gb of RAM under Performance Monitor. No free RAM is showing and the computer starts page-filing evrything. Games are impossible to play.

However, if I then restart the PC it will show 3.325Gb as usual and performance is fine. I can recreate the problem everyday but like I say, it only has this issue on the first start of the day.

I did have a faulty boot sector recently which I repaired and my RAM problem seemed to start at roughly the same time.

As a result, I think it's probably Windows related and a reinstall is in order but wondered if you'd come across this at all and may have alternative advice?

Thanks.

Try upping the MCH voltage (North bridge voltage) up an increment or two as this can sometimes alleviate this type of problem (especially if you’re using all the DIMM slots as this puts extra stress on the memory controller and usually requires a bit more juice to compensate)

Are you running four sticks?

Thanks Plec. Yeah, 4 sticks.

What type of increments should I up the MCH by on an IP35-Pro, any idea?

Also, I've been running the 4Gb at the same voltages for over a year now. Would it be normal for this type of probelm to "develop" rather than being there from when I installed the extra 2Gb?

Thanks for your help.

What is the reported/set MCH voltage at present and what voltage increments does the MB offer? (0.3V/0.5V bump would be a reasonable start)

It's not normal but it's not unusual either and certainly nothing to be concerned about if it does transpire that the memory controller requires a bit more juice to keep things stable - especially when using 4 sticks.

Thanks again. Will have a pop when at home.
