odd screen ghosting issue

been having this issue on my XP Pro machine for a few days, every so often when I use a menu (file, right click etc) it leaves the part of the menu I clicked as a kind of ghost on the screen.
if I reboot or change the screen res it goes but this is a pain as its happening more and more now.
any ideas?

intel onboard graphics (on that desktop) nothings changed (no new drivers, or newer ones) I'll give it a go re-installing them.
may have solved it
atleast I've had no more complaints, turns out it had a ATI X300 in it!
