Hi all,
I've just built myself a new pc using bits 'n bobs from OcUK, and while general performance is amazing, I've got a bit of an odd problem.
For reference, the main components in my new pc are:
Core i7 920
6gb ram
1gb 4870
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
Vista 64bit
It's only a niggling problem, but basically, if i boot my pc up and I've left a disc in the dvd drive, Vista will hang on a blank screen for ages, constantly accessing the drive, but if I open the dvd drive, it'll continue starting up. I've never left it long enough to see if it will eventually boot up without opening the drive.
If I'm booting the pc up and the dvd drive it empty, Vista will start straight up very quickly.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or any idea's what I might be able to do to sort it out (apart from stop being lazy and making sure the drive is empty before I shut the pc down!)? I don't remember having this problem on my old pc with XP Pro on it - it would boot fine with a dvd in the drive.
Just to note, the only boot device I've got enabled in the bios is the hdd.
Apart from this, its been incredible going from my previous system (Athlon 64 3800!!!) to the Core i7.
Cheers for any help.
