Odds of getting a refund ?

I work for a retail store, and once its opened its pretty much yours. It is harsh and I hate it, but at the end of the day the laptop/ electrical item cannot be resold unless we sell it as ex display because the returns center will not give us credit for used and working models.

I worked in an ARRR-GUSSSS store when I was a student and we took pretty much everything back.

There was this one guy who brought an item back on something ridiculous like the 363rd day (or very close to being inside a year). Item was a deep fat fryer which still had the fat in and in shocking condition. He said it was faulty, item was no longer in stock and he said he did not like the replacement ones (even though they were better). He go a full refund. Loads more like him.

The main thing I realised when working there was SHOUTING GETS YOU ANYWHERE. on the rare occasion a manager would refuse a refund and the customer caused a fuss - they always backed down and gave the customer what they wanted.

Possibly not a similar story for other retails stores and more a case of just working for a bad one.
