I bought a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 round about may/ june last year. It has recently started acting up, and doing an error scan via hd tune pro it is showing at the moment (so far) 3 bad sectors! Anytime i try to use the drive and it tries to access these sectors it freezes or slows down the entire system to a crawl, even though it isn't the os drive.
It was bought from a competitor (using thei online auction outlet). Given the drive is only just over 6 months old, where would I stand? Are bad sectors classed as a fault that would warranty replace or service the drive?
I had been planning to use this drive to back up certain things (steam folder etc) prior to doing a fresh windows install over the weekend, but that has been hit on the head.
