Off the United kids tonight, who do you think will make it to the first team ?

i live like 5 mins away from where a lot of reserve team matches get played and i really think Fletcher is going to be something special. He freakishly reminds you of a young Becks, also i think Stewart while not having Fletcher's ability will make a good squad member, a useful defensive midfield player.

Our academy seems to of produced yet again some quality midfield players to add to our first team squad.

ya i have heard more about fletcher than any of the others really...

he was dubbed the new giggs a year or two ago, but somehow i dont think so

tbh none of them looked like world class 20 year olds, of which there are quite a few in the world

and my question is why do all these other teams have these amazing guys who have broken into their first teams at that age

and my second question is why dont man utd own them?

Yeah, i like that Young Fletcher fella too, he has a nice first touch and moves with the ball freely as well, being challengend on the ball didnt seem to put him off his stride, and he has a couple of tricks.
I think Webber, perhaps if he had had a stronger or more experianced midfield behind him, could do more, he made quite an impact on loan at watford.
And it was blanc who let us down for both the goals last night, such a shame really.

Other talented youngsters (such as Rooney for example) have broken through into their teams because they are good enough to do so. Man Utd's youngsters, with the exception of O'Shea are not currently good enough, which is not necessarily a reflection on the players, more the quality of players they're trying to replace.

Secondly, Man Utd cannot get every good young player in the world. No-one's scouting network is that good.

i honestly think it IS a reflection of the quality of the youth we have, not the first team, most of them wont even be good enough for division 1, let alone champions league.

why dont we have players like rooney, anyone could oust the likes of the nevilles, forlan etc. and with the amount of injuries we have had they could have played earlier in the season if they were good enough

Secondly, Man Utd cannot get every good young player in the world. No-one's scouting network is that good

get one or two and id be happy, none is not good enough for the team that we like to dub the best in the world, we aint even the best in M'CR

we havent had a quality youth player come through since the beckham breakthrough, and how many years ago was that.

rooney is a special player dude, id say the vast majority of youngsters dont have the kind of talent he has so to moan u dont have a player like him is abit odd coz u wont find a lot of kids with his kind of talent

id say there are a fair few, and the fact we dont own any of them is disconcerting to say the least

its like UTD gave up on their youth system when beckham, butt, nevilles, giggs etc came through since then i cant recall one real quality player coming through

all the other world class teams, real/barca/ etc all have excellent youth players (portillo-real) (saviola true they bought him, but we've got cash too!, puyol, Motta trashoras etc)

Fancy naming me another 17 year old in this country with the talent/potential of Rooney? I doubt you can, because of the simple fact there aren't any. Everton struck gold with him (and hopefully his younger brother too, who is on the books, and allegedly better than Wayne was at that age!), just as you did with Beckham/Giggs et al.

Just remember Nick, that the players that Man Utd had all came through at once, whereas it usually happens one or two at a time for most other clubs. Man Utd have a great scouting network, and I'm sure in a season or two there'll be another wonderkid coming through.

i hope so

they dont have to be english though, and they dont have to be 17

none of our good players are below 25/26 probably, theres not been a good new addition to the squad since those young ones came through alll those seasons ago when it was said we couldnt win the league with youngsters.

there are players like smith who's just come up, pennant, zamora, though im not sure if he's as good as people tend ot make out

there are foreign players to, portillo, torres, joaquin, mexes, escude, quaresma, theres loads, but non playing for us.

Whatever happened to Mads Timm and Bojan Djordic?

Mads Timm is still only a baby hehe.

Djordic is unhappy at Man United I read in the paper a few months ago because he hasn't been given a chance to impress in the first team. I'm shocked really because he always impressed me when I saw him play. eg: in the testimonial matches against Celtic....

He would seem to be a good replacement for Giggs. As far as I know though, Man United just loaned him out to Sheffield Wednesday, and anyone who goes there is likely to depreciate in value hehe. ;)
