An EU country with a gun range it won't be Kalasnikovs likely hand guns and a shot gun or two if anything.

A largy catholic nation with strip clubs, again interesting.

I hear of lots of english people getting glassed who go to Poland.

Isn't Krakow zero tolerance as far as police go? If caught drunk a night in the cells and £60 fine, sounds a nice place good thing its a nationalist government in power.

Sounds like my idea of hell.

Krakow isn't the place to go for debauchery - try Amsterdam...

I paid £50 a night for a room when I went in Jan and a good deal more for beer.

i found a youth hostel on the main sq, for £7 a night beer is under a £1 but depends where you go, strip clubs and so on, are not really there, and it's nothing like Amsterdam, and if that is why you are going i reckon you will be disapointened, don't **** the Polish blokes of either

where the heck is that!

Ljubljiana is in Slovenia my geographically unenlightnened friend

Slovenia is a breakaway republic from the former Yugoslavia

Yugoslavia is/was on the Adriatic Coastline

The Adriatic coastline is kind of to the East of Italy

Italy is in the Mediterranean Sea

The Med is ...oh forget it!

I went a year ago. It's not really that sort of place :/ I really liked it.

I came back from Poland about a week ago, and spent 5 nights in Krakow while I was over there. I can absolutely, enthusiastically, without a doubt recommend the Greg & Tom Hostel, which is about midway between the central train station and the main square - about five minutes walk from both. It's small, modern and really comfortable, has really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Lots of young people who were up for a laugh, and it hardly cost anything either (about 40 PLN, or £7, a night). They don't have any checkout time or curfew - you're free to come and go as you please. The only rule is not to annoy the other guests too much!

As for stuff to do, I recommend going one or two streets away from the main square. The prices are roughly doubled on the main square (you're looking at £2 a pint instead of £1... oh no! ;)) and the bars and restaurants are much more generic. All of the interesting places are a little bit further out.

While you're over there you've got to make sure you try pierogi, which are Polish dumplings in a variety of flavours. Can get a really filling plate of them for about £2. Also try the flavoured vodkas (hardly saw any Polish drinking neat, unflavoured vodka...) but not too many - you don't want to get too drunk and vomit in a shower (ahem).

Ill tell you where the real new Prague is

Ljubjana!

That place is insane

I wouldn't call it insane at all :)

Nice clean, relaxed, not particularly cheap upcoming city.

Down near the bridges on a week night during the summer is awesome, everyone is very friendly :)
