Off to Rome in June - any idea which lens will complement my D7000?

As title, I've got a couple of days/nights in Rome soon and really looking forward to it, but my 35mm prime will not do the architecture etc justice. Any suggestions?

I went to Rome last year and found much of it very built up with narrow streets. So I'd go for something that is quite wide. I took my 24-70 but ended up using my 12-24 more frequently.

The 16-85mm is the mid-range zoom that is sharp enough for the D7000's sensor. It's certainly what I expect to use most when I go to Rome next year.

Depends the kind of photos you want but I don't find it restrictive.

D7000 is crop sensor though whereas Raymond's shots were taken with 35mm on full frame so they will be wider. The crop equivalent will be around 24mm.

I'd recommend a 14-24 also but if too expensive, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8?

wow! Beautiful shots RL. I love the first one - may I ask how you achieved that effect? Under-exposed or something? It's great.

It was just the light that moment, it was raining (you can just see some rain on the right side of the photo), and the sun was setting to the right peaking thought the clouds.

He's right, it's 35mm focal length on FF.

I was in Rome the week the new Pope was elected. I took my Nikon 1 V2 and the 6.7-13mm and 18mm f1.8 lenses (thats 18-35mm and 50mm equivalents). The wide angle zoom was on the camera 90% of the time. It's an amazing city with something new around every corner. I spent a lot of time just standing back taking it all in!

There's a Tokina 11-16 for £350 over on TP. A Tamron 17-50 second hand shouldn't set you back more than £200 either.
