Offer accepted but....

We are currently going through the process at the moment and it took 15 days to get our mortgage approved subject to survey (lenders are very busy apparently), with the survey not due to report back for another week. Its more than possible that it won't be the conveyancing that holds you up.

Luckily our vendors haven't signed some important documents with their solicitor yet so they believe the delay is their fault (they are out of the country until Monday), and have therefore been apologising profusely.
 
Yep, I think it might have been a bit of bravado to warn off any time wasters. In the end we have found that we cannot complete until mid October, and they're fine with that...

Aye but it is good, very good, gives you thinking time, and to be sure no major disasters in the offing.
It was a strange restriction, as even with cash I doubt any solicitor worth anything would force a sale through for their client so quickly.
