Congratulations! :D
What does the job involve?

Thanks. i'll be part of audit teams who go to clients and give an independant view of them. Annual accounts will be produced, and all their processes looked at to see if we can sugest improvements.

Not quite - we don't suggest improvements, we just make sure they comply with the accounting standards ;)

The salary will move up very quickly, and fuel expenses will mean that you take home a lot more money than you realise at first :)

Congrats by the way! :D

Tell me something... what are you studying exactly and how do you get a job when your still at uni and your final grade isn't known - what if by some strange happening you fail? is it a conditional offer?

Also 2007! how can they offer a job now for 2007 - thats over 18 months away

Whenever we have auditors at my work, they are treated like royalty, put up in the best hotels and taken out for expensive lunches!

Enjoy ;)

We have internal auditors - they're a pain the arse, and are treated accordingly. Although I am currently trying to get into the delicates of one the girls who works in Internal Audit :)

External auditors are a different matter, they have the power to shutdown a business if they find practises are in anyway 'off'.
I work in the Insurance sector and these people are **** hot on anything remotely suspicious.

If they're treated well, they're more likely to look on any odd dealings in a different light - human nature.

Studying Economics, although they recruit any graduate regardless of degree

Firms normally give conditional offers (2.1 mostly). The lady i spoke today only mentioned that i inform her of the grade i achieve when the results are out. It maybe a conditional offer, but i wont be sure until i receive the paperwork on saturday.

I am taking a year out after uni, and they are happy to defer my place till 07 :)

congrats

you say they recruit any graduate,

In your degree i gather you gained some experience in what you'll be doing at Baker Tilly? or are you going to be learning pretty much from scratch (which someone like me would be doing, if i was in your position with a physics degree).

Thanks.

Ive studied 1 accountancy module over my 3years at uni (i wanted to do more, but the timetable wouldnt allow it). This gave me a rough idea of Balance sheets/ P&L etc.

But they didnt even ask me any questions about specific accounting details, they just wanted to know i was keen. You would be in no worse position than me because you are studying physics, they would ask you why you want to be an accountant rather than use your degree
