No its self contained mostly although there is some back story about Abstergo (the main business from all games) and their previous agent Desmond. It won't interfere with your enjoyment though if you don't know about it.
Why aren't there many Digital PS4 game codes available? CD Keys only has 2

Most of the Keys for the xbox are from games that were bundled with the console at some point, do PS4 bunles come with physical games instead of download codes?

Yeah, MS have a habit of providing download codes whereas with the PS4 they're nearly always on disc.

AFAIK, those are the two best bundles around right now. Buying one of those two and adding to them represents better value than buying any other bundle I've seen lately.
