***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

just got an email saying the rrp has gone down to £24.99
plus i got £5 off with my loyalty card

i still fail to see how a retail boxed game can be sold for much less than an online download with [relativley] minimal overheads

i know valve are in it to make money but come on - the production of a box/disc/manual/cover/shipping must be more than an online DL

to date - the steam games i own [include l4d for arguments sake]

CS:S
left for dead
orange box
race07

total on steam = £95
total boxed/retail = £46

its just backwards logic - i dont see why they dont just localise pricing and make steam more competative - they would make more money - which in turn would stamp out a bit of piracy and help make new IP's and games

I cannot play until like 8pm tonight as I finish work at 7 so you guys will have a head start but if you guys are on that time please stay logged into the STEAM group chat because then the rest of us can join the channel and join your game!
 
Lol, I feel very geeky :p

Just called my girlfriend at home and told her how to get onto my computer and load up Steam and she's started it preloading for me, and I've just taken the afternoon off work to go home and play it :D

Who fancies some co-op :D:D

Will I need a headset for this?
 
After my first experience with the pipe bomb, I didn't go back to it because I was a little afraid of what I might do. I think it was our second time through the hospital level, in the sewers, when I turned around and saw a Boomer and a ton of zombies really doing a number on a teammate. I had no idea of how powerful the pipe bomb was, but I saw a lot of zombies and figured it'd be a great time to use it, right? I threw it behind the Boomer, and bam! The Boomer and all of the zombies in the area were dead! Unfortunately, so were the other three survivors... My bad

Where did he say he didn't like the game? Don't twist his words to fit your agenda please.

FWIW I'm not sure it's "worth" £30 either given it is ostensibly HL2 + upgraded Source engine + Zombies. I will be surprised if there is a whole lot more to it that couldn't have been achieved by a determined modding team working with the HL2 SDK., though I'm quite happy to be proved wrong.

I also don't understand why people get so defensive about things like this - it's a valid topic for discussion, the way some people talk it's as if Airalith ****ed on their grandmothers or something. I thought he made some valid points myself.

(and I have it pre-ordered, albeit not from Steam - too expensive!)
