***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Aekeron we were playin a few co-ops on yoru server this avo, there was a few occasions when players would warp across the rooms a little, couldnt reproduce it so it seemed random.

Love the script you have to block the exploit on NM3 i think where guys used to bash down the door to avoid the crescendo. Team tried it today only to see the message pop up that exloit was being attempted was classic stuff :)

Hmm.. Weird. I'll see if I can look into the issue about player warping. I hope it's not another plugin issue - that would be rather tedious to track down ;)

Lol /re the exploit blocking. I wasn't sure if that worked or not so I'm glad to hear that it does :)

Probably that Restricted Zones plugin.

Having read through the code a bit more basically this is what will happen with it:

First time campaign is run on server with plugin enabled:
- Players get to NM Hospital (map 4)- plugin teleports people if they go in the closet
- Players get to NM Finale (map 5)- plugin teleports people if they go under the ramp (and elsewhere? there are 3 sets of x, y, z co-ords)

...then the server returns to idle state. The array that stores the restricted zones coordinates isn't zero'd, and the timer carries on running (even if no one is connected to the server). The next time someone plays on it the NM Finale restricted zones will be in effect for maps 1-3 before reverting back to the above behaviour.

Having said that the Restricted Zones plugin should pop up a warning if you get moved, presumably you didn't see that?

:(

yeah it wasnt warping because we were being moved from an exploit location it was just general warping the kind you would get if there was a lag spike altho were all always green bars on those servers.

It wasnt enough to ruin the game just something you would notice every once in a while.

Even if this wasn't the issue in this case, I might hold remove the plugin for the time being until its been cleaned up a little.

Oh yes, I removed the sv_server_searchkey cvar from the server configs (previously left there by mistake..oops) and they are already a lot more busy. I may put the key back there if it starts to make getting into games difficult for OCUK members though...

Keep me informed.

This may be a silly question, but how do i join a specific server? ive always just joined a game already running or in the process of starting up with friends, or just joining random servers online using the join lobby thing.

Well, if you bring the console down, and type 'openserverbrowser', that will bring up the cs style server browser.

If you know the physicaly ip, you can jsut type connect (then the ip of the server) into the console.

Well, it's either connect or join, i think it's connect anyway :p

It's "connect", yes :)

Best thing to do is to download HLSW: http://www.hlsw.org/?page=download&category=hlsw

Then add the following servers to the monitor:

217.168.150.203:27016 VS_1
217.168.150.203:27017 VS_2
217.168.150.203:27018 COOP_1
217.168.150.203:27019 COOP_2

Then you can just right-click on a server and choose "connect".

Quite useful as you can also see which games are in progress and how many players are on there/etc easily.

You get the same effect by simply adding -serverbrowser to the launch properties btw.

Indeedio :)

I was thinking of adding a menu item that we could all install to get onto the ocuk servers even when making a random lobby, but it's prob not worth the hassle.

Also, the servers seem to be pretty packed now. I may add a 5th if it continues like this all night.

Sounds good actually. I've wanted this for a while, don't really understand why it isn't there tbh, it makes owning a server more alluring. Which is pretty important in a game like this.

Okay..I'll see what I can knock up.

In the meantime, I can assign "sv_search_key ocuk" to a server and then the only lobbies that will be able to conenct to it are ones where the lobby leader has typed "sv_search_key ocuk" into the console. If I made a mod for the menu, it'd basically automate this process.

Currently there is no sv_search_key set on the servers so this won't work (and because I've removed the sv_search_key cvar, the servers are getting rammed all of a sudden).

Dunno who Squeak is or if he's a forum member but he just had a proper epi on the vs server. Couple of people got pinned and it's "noobs" and a rage quit. It really is quite laughable how badly some people deal with online gaming :D.

Anyone experienced the following?

Left4DeadBug.jpg

I'm unable to see how many bullets I have remaining or the Equipment carried by my team mates.

It's like the game is oversizing the sections and therefore missing them off as the text ingame looks larger than it should in places.

Any one have any ideas?

So, is there any way as it is to take your lobby into a specific server? Even if it's not in easy to use addon form.

Well, if I set a search key for one of the servers, you can just type into the console "sv_search_key (whatever I set)" - that way the lobby will connect to the server I've set to that search key. At least, that's the theory.

I'll look into it more later or tomorrow.
