***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Disabling kickvote would be a bad idea.. I need the ability to kick AFKers and noobs.

I wont stay in a lobby if I am asked to leave, unless Rob is asking.. in which case I make it my key goal to destroy him!

While were on the subject of people being booted for stupid reasons let me throw into the mix my lack of enthusiasm for people being booted simply because they got in before someone else who was invited.

Ive seen this happen a few times where often the last person to join will get in just before someone else who was on their way.

Ive seen this then start with last person in you need so leave because so and so was coming in.

As far as i see it when were all startina game we all pretty much spam the invites like crazy, if someone gets in quicker thats fairplay and they deserve that spot and not to be asked to leave because someones mate was comin in.

I include myself in this ofcourse as just today i got an invite and didnt make it to the lobby in time and had to wait 30mins or so before a space came up, i wouldnt ask for someone to be asked to leave just because i didnt get in in time and i find that hwole suggestion quite sad.

End of rant :)

BTW kick rob to let me in at any time :)

Are you referring to last night?

If so - this is what hapenned:

Knub and myself started a L4D game up, we asked mrk at this point to join us and he said he could play in 10 mins so we agreed to wait for him.

We started a lobby up straight away and threw out some invs, I believe one went to you and I invited some others too, people just joined as well (friends of those who were invited etc)

Before you know it the game is full, we had promised mrk he could play with us and were left in a situation where we had no spots anymore.

As such the only way to allow mrk to play was for someone to leave, had we known how much of a noob that LEEBONE guy was i'm sure we'd have removed him straight away, but anyway last guy in was Platinum which is just unlucky.

I'd completely agree with you if this was a case of both players getting invited and one beating the other in, or us being in the middle of a game and expecting someone to leave because a friend arrived, we wouldn't do this and I wouldn't expect anyone to do this.

But yeah - as I said we'd promised him he could join and the game had not begun by this point, alternative is to go back to lobby and make a new game? I know Mrk and Knub in real life and they are the main reason I play the game.

Anyway another game tonight hopefully will be good :)

i don't wear the ocuk tag because i don't want to promote the company, however teh forum community is good so will still play in the servers. Remember my name and don't kick me!

yeah eulogy it wasnt aimed at last night just a general comment, in a situation where one of my buds would be 10 mins or so id tell him we will start anyway and he can join when a space comes up (if), theres few vs games which run for the full hr or so with the same 8 players that started so a spot will always come up eventually.

About the tags issue at the start we were all wearin tags just as a means of identifying each other, I remember saying a long time ago its a nonsence to question people without tags as they can only join a friends lobby if they are . . . . . . friends of someone in the game lol

Just played a game there with buckz, apoc, seaniboy and a few others which was a right laugh and there was another full vs goin at the same time so theres usually plenty of peeps up for games so findin a server shouldnt be a problem :)

Yeah but even kicking someone / asking them to leave because you've 'promised' a spot to someone is a bit daft...

If the lobby fills it fills...I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to 'hold' a place for me.

I've been on a server where Platinum has done exactly that to other OcUK people so I have no sympathy for him, live by the sword, die by the sword.

It was precisely for that reason (and his response when called on it) that I no longer join a game that he's in.

What is this recent obsession with parking the tank?

It is hardly ever an advantage over using whatever spawn point you are given.

AI Tank is a complete nub, he will keep pounding whoever is down until everyone else point blanks him in the back, and he runs into fire.

No one gets to be Tank, how fun.

I'm going to start ignoring requests to park it from now on.

Yeah, tank parking is only fun the first time when the other team doesn't know about it, but after that it gets dull, didn't stop us blowing it off the roof earlier :D

As for the kicking situation, im not a fan of the "if you drop out by no fault of your own the person who replaces you can stay" at least ask the other person if they want back in and if the other person decides to be pain and not leave or respond kick them.

your misfortune = someone elses good fortune, i know it might sound harsh but if i lost my conn and someone else got in then thats fair enough. Ill bide my time cuz no doubt someone will rage quit and then im back, btw auto join f t w

But what is harsher, playing 4 rounds and having your connection drop, or joining near the end and being asked to leave as the person wants back in?
I'd gladly drop out if i knew someone had crashed out and wanted back in, sadly that doesn't seem to be the calibre of a lot of players, at the same time i'd gladly kick someone out to let someone back in if they wouldn't leave of their own accord.

That's a different situation to being kicked at the start though, isn't it.

Managed to get on the OcUK servers once since I got the game at the weekend, that was from an invite from Lyon.

No luck again tonight :(

Also the key point being that I started a Friends only lobby and just Hungry Hippo and I joined with another friend, with the intention of waiting for MRK.

I think Sharpy joined up because we are steam friends and he started spamming the invites so people joined, which is fair play. Not Sharpy's fault but at the same time it was our lobby that people joined so it's only fair for us to kick someone and wait for our friend, we did it fairest way possible.

The lobby isn't even touching OcUK servers and if they are full there then you can always play elsewhere.
