***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

News.
Well the 8v8 is working again. However we've taken it down.

There is now a 9v9 however up at this IP: 94.23.222.136:27018 which adds more zombies at 90 health (standard is 50, 8v8 balanced is 100, 8v8 last game was 180).

9v9 Changes from 8v8:
-9 players per side.
-Crash Course is now installed.
-Tanks back at 8v8 standard. They run faster.
-More zombies. Up to 70 can be onscreen at once. This may be droppede back to normal with more health if it takes up too much server resources.
-Max Smokers = 3, Max hunters = 7, Max Boomers is still 1.
-Ready Plugin Currently disabled. Please wait however for enough players to join before starting. If we have people running off I shall simply re-enable it.

Please Note that this is still untested with all 18 players. There will be a testing session arranged for some time this week.

Just tweaked the 9v9 a little more.

-The zombie number is still higher than normal, but not quite as high as before (never-ending finales anyone?)
-Two tanks should spawn on occasion now (both with less than standard tank health) and their speed has been decreased slightly, but it's still faster than normal versus. Also on finale it's locked to one tank only if you get one spawned before the actual finale and if you get to the finale the first tank will just be a stronger lone tank. The 2nd finale tanks will be two with slightly more health than normal. The escape tank will be 1 with standard health.
-Smoker limit back at 2, hunter limit is at 7. Boomer still at 1. Balance Fix.
-Ready Plugin is re-enabled.
-Smoker cloud does more damage per second and lasts longer
-Special Infected can now spawn before the Survivors leave the safe room
-Infected Ghosts can move faster
-Boomers should now be able to vomit while moving
-Survivor Fire damage dropped from expert to higher than normal (now 0.6, for those of you who understand what this means)
-Various other "behind the scenes" tweaks done for balancing.
-Various plugin updates done.

Hopefully the 9v9 will work tonight when tested as hoped...

Basicly view my 8v8 mod as Insanity Versus Version 1.x and 9v9 as Insanity Versus Version 2. :D

Right, an event has been set up in the OcUK L4D group for tonight's 9v9 beta testing game at around 8pm.

Please note that the game may not allow more than 8 people to join, as it appears that valve may have locked the game to 8 slots from within. If this happens the game will be cancelled and the server taken offline until the mod used is fixed. Please don't ask me to put the old 8v8 back online if this happens as the same issue will exist for that as well.

As mentioned in the event description on STEAM that on this ONE occasion, if OcUK 6 is full when I come to join in with the testing, I will kick the person with the highest ping; that I don't know; or that I don't like (;)) to make sure I have a space. This is so that I can judge for myself how well the server is running and how well balanced it is etc. In future, much like the past this will not happen unless I have warned it might beforehand.

I'm looking forward to testing this out and I hope you are as well. :)
 
I know valve have set it up as a 4 player vs 4 player game... but they must have seen the 8v8 stuff and realise people enjoy that too. It would be cool if they introduced an official version 8vs8 in L4D2/1 but used the new characters so we didnt have 2 bills running round... haha

Guess it would spoil their story arc or what ever. who knows, with the changeable paths, weather, new CI, and new specials 8v8 may be completely unbalanced in L4D2.

Anywho, I shall set my mouse finger to spam the 'join' button come 8pm... lets hope it works

I know the game is an 18+ but we all know that people younger than 18 play. It also wouldn't be allowed on these forums, so...

Plus, tbh, it's often pretty disgusting :)
