***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Ive never had any probs nor has link. If they need to be told you have been smoked / pounced then they are noobs.

Simples.

One example last night was on the finale, masses of horde and shacked up in a confined area. I got smokered/pounced in very short succession (I believe I was the prime target due to my lower health) as the rest of the group were moving.

Because I was unable to let them know what was happening, they assumed I'd not heard the command to start moving.. which could start ****ing people off after a while.

Its not that they would not be able to see I was being targeted, but because of the difficulty in that situation a verbal warning from me would have shaved those few seconds off that could have got the area cleared and kept me up.. or not made me look like I was afk or not paying attention.

And yes, it was me that got boomer-ed out of the open window plummeting to me death (another thing I could not let them know about quickly enough)

I know its only small things, your probably a lot better at the game than I as v.s. is something quite new to me, but I honestly felt like I was definitely the weak link in the team because of not being able to communicate correctly.

That's a bit harsh - I've played with some of the best players from these forums (who will remain nameless for the sake of my ears vs their egos :D) and in the chaos of battle (and the blur of boomer bile), sometimes a verbal warning makes things a lot easier.

That said, NathanT, I agree that a microphone is not required to enjoy the game or be an effective part of a team. Perhaps work on getting your voice commands sorted (the in-game ones), or perfect the art of typing "help" in team-chat in under a second :D

The ultimate call for help, though, is to scream "Help me, Lyon!" into my mic :D

Pffftt Lyon couldnt save a mouse.

Mics are good for some situations where everyone is boomed and you get pounced as you can give details to where you are also planning attacks with the infected.

Seeing as mine cost £3 i think it was well worth it really, plus everyone loves a bit of banter ;)

Don't worry, we weren't getting annoyed at you (well at least I wasn't) and I never thought once that you were a liability due to lack of mic. In fact I though we worked quite well together as a team after the first two levels. The window episode was awful funny though, we knew you were down but we couldn't see you. We didn't think to look out the window and see you all the way down there. No matter how quickly you told us about that we couldn't have saved you.

If you did feel like we were getting annoyed at you then I apologise.

Link had a box I think with all his servers on. Just 1 L4D2 server would be about a tenner a month, I'm guessing.

The shared dedi that we run is about ~£50 per month. I'm not sure about the servers Link has with the other providers though - I imagine you're probably right with ~£10/month/server though.
