Cheap shots don't exactly make you look particularly mature...but heyho.
In /re to the server issues - I'm in the middle of building a new dedi which'll be far more powerful than the current one. It should be up and running in the data centre in approx two weeks. I'd imagine to see a massive improvement at that point, along with additional servers going online.
Back to the issue we're actually talking about...
Other people in this thread seem to have had different experiences to yourself. I'm pretty sure that myself, Tortoise, uv and Inky could take apart all but the best survivor teams (and I'm sure plenty of others out there could do the same).
look im not saying its imposible to win as infected
im just saying that it's boring when there is not much horde's around... spec infected do 5hp a hit which is too low... being a smoker i just run into survivors and die cos it's nearly imposible without team mates to get one of them.. and of course most of the time you play with randoms who dont give a $%$# about team play.... there was people who didn't like playing vs on expert because its too hard for them but there is loads of people who don't like playing vs on normal because it's too easy.. valve should look at both sides... not force players to play on normal... it's like takin half a game of more skilled players...

I have exactly the same issue on the CAT 8.10's, not only with left4dead but I also get it in Fallout3. I turned off the Catalyst A.I and this seems to keep it around 120+ although it does dip in action intensive firefights but never below 70-80 FPS. When it loads to a new level now it is ok and does not drop to 30-60FPS. I'm running my 4870x2 with a Quad Q9550 at 3gig, with 2 gig of DDR2 ram on winxp 32 bit. Hopefully will work for you too. I game at 1920x1200 with all the bells and whistles on. Bar vertical sync.

If you think Vs is too easy for survivors, then you suck at playing Infected. If your only tactic is to wait for a horde of zombies following a vomit or Horde Trigger, then you still suck at playing Infected. You have to work as a team, which is the whole point of Left 4 Dead. Infected have to pick the right opportunities. Smoker picks up a straggler, hunter picks up the straggler's would-be-rescuer. Use the terrain to your advantage. Actually make plans and stick to them.
I don't understand Grudas how you can say "it's too easy". Too easy for who? It's 4v4. That's like saying Counterstrike is too easy. Or COD4 Multiplayer is too easy. Easy for who?
I've won plenty of games as infected against organised OCUK teams since the patch. I've lost a few too. Even with randoms the game is balanced fine.
Also, why are you running into Survivors as a smoker? That's kind of the opposite of what you want to be doing with a smoker.

dampcat i mean it gets boring sometimes if its to easy for everybody... you play as infected you can win all depends on your team you play as survivor you will win again if your team is good enough but after long period of playing you will get bored at the time it's fine.. advanced and expert should be for the future when most of the players will be more skilled and want more hordes, tanks etc in game game is still fresh.. and it will change even more..

Yeah the boomer sucks on parts of the hospital level on No Mercy! You can spay or suicide all 4 survivors when they get out of the lift at the top and absolutely nothing will happen!

Anyone playing this with the DG Team firmware on their router? Mine kept dropping the connection and signing out of friends. I reverted back to standard fw and it's been rock solid.

Try running it in borderless window mode - resolved my stuttering issues instantly.
As for the "it's too easy" line, I've made my points previously (similar to DampCat's) but I would just like to ask.....if it's so easy as Survivors, why do some feel the need to hide underneath the impregnable walkway on the No Mercy finale?
And this is the first game I've played in since Quake 2 where I've had a desire to design levels. I may need to start looking into things when they release the L4D SDK - could be a lot of fun.
