***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Dual core 2.8, 4GB ram, ubuntu. It's running fairly default atm but I plan on looking at timing changes to see if I can get a bit more performance out of it.

Seems to deal with 4 dedis very easily :)

Not to generalize but ! is this how it goes down for you too ?

French players= run off on their own and call everyone bad players

German players= run off to safe room on their own at the first opportunity and just leave everyone to die

Spanish= die once and they quit

English= thoroughly well rounded gaming masters and bloody nice chaps to boot.

Not sure about the other two but these are dead on. Especially the last one ;)

Had a good game with TriggerThat the other night.

Survivors is so boring at times so when playing with randomers i tend to just peg it for the safe room for kicks :p

You got the Spanish and the English mixed up...well, I dunno about the Spanish being gaming masters, but the English are easily the most petulant I've encountered in L4D. As soon as things start going badly, the excuses start flying and, one more death and they leave.

And the old ones are still being aired - in the OCUK versus match this afternoon, someone moaned about the difficulty being locked to Normal because they couldn't stop the survivors reaching the safehouse.....after their team had just scored 22 (or something as bad as that) on the same map - the issue in that kind of scenario is most certainly not the difficulty level :D

Ohhhh, and the rubbish about the OcUK tags needs to stop as well. If I start a friends-only game and an actual friend of mine is playing or in the lobby, it's not on having an OcUK member quiz them as to who they are and why they're on the server - let alone trying to votekick them. Let alone those people who are on here but belong to actual clans.

Right, now that I've said all that, whose up for a game? :D

I couldn't agree with you more if you were me and I was you,

It can be so frustrating trying to find other good players to have a decent session with sometimes.

Ugh..that sounds idiotic.

Next week I'll get an OCUK only server up and running - let me know likely people for admin rights.

RULES FOR LEFT 4 DEAD

RULE ONE
Protect your team mates
If a team mate is on low health and your on high then heal him. Doesn't matter if he is a noob, just fix him!

RULE TWO
Stick with your team mates
You are only as strong as your team. Your team mates are your friends and saviours when your luck runs out, so stick them and then they are always right next to you in your moment of need.
When your getting annoyed with team members at the back lagging behind, well follow them instead. Be that wide eyed newbies second eyes and ears. You will last longer and avoid running into anything on your own.

RULE THREE
Do not run off to far ahead
For some odd reason when you run off a little bit in front the director often doesn't place units for you, but on occasions it does and more often than not it places a nasty boss infected like a tank. More importantly, when you are out in front you are not with your team and so you are not following the rule of protecting them.

RULE FOUR
Do not wander back on your own for extra ammo
Need more ammo, well let your team mates know first. If they aint coming back with you then you are just going to have to go without!

RULE FIVE
Team a tank/Witch
The tank and Witch are very strong, but he is one quarter as weak when you are gunning him too, also if he pins a team mate and you have high health then close combat him two or three times in the back and he will turn his attention to you thus saving your team mate!

RULE SIX
Protect the gunners back
The gunner is there to protect your front, so for Spies sake (see what I did!) protect the gunners back.

RULE SEVEN
Do not move your team mates cannisters
They put them there for a reason, if it is a bad place then tell them, but just leave it for now (its good manners)

RULE EIGHT
Lead by example
Do what I do, not what I say. Stick with your team mates when they are in trouble. Hang back for the lagger, fix the ill team mate, save him when he is down, give him that extra health pack or those pills your saving and cover him when he gets boomed

RULE NINE
Duck down in front
If you are the front guy facing the horde (say in a door way etc), well duck down, so your team mates get a chance to shoot and remember to push, just remember to give them room to breath.

RULE TEN
What is he doing!
Be the big man and save it. If a team mate is being a newbie then let him know what he did wrong first. If he doesn't listen and does it again then vote him off. The great thing about only four players in close proximity is that a bad player sticks out a lot!

LAWS OF LEFT 4 DEAD
1) Protect your team mates
2) Stay close to your team mates
3) Heal, help up, free and just save your team mates.
4) Never be the last man behind or the first out at front unless you have SEEN your team mates right behind you.
5) Space out a little and duck down in front

Most of the ocuk regs are not nice people.

I am banned from their server because some idiot from ocuk started team kill shooting me so i started shooting him back and hey presto kicked and banned from server.

Wouldn't wee on most of them if they were on fire.

Most of the idiots seem to have northern accents "cant stand listening to liverpuddlians and mancunians personally" I find and stick together like flies round pooh.

Having much more fun playing with and against randoms as ocuk people especially ones with ocuk in their names are impatient its my ball and im not playing with you types.

Thank god that despite being from Manchester I don't have much of the accent. Agree with everything else but accents aren't probably a good reason to not want to play with people...

granted but am only speaking out my personal experiences that northerners hate southerners and tend to stick together and gang up on us southys.

Sick of playing against melee script users was just in a game and some guy was using it.

Basically it lets you melee 5x speed the amount normal melee does and is an exploit it makes hunters useless you'll melee a pouncing hunter every single time with ease.
So by the time it takes you or I to melee once they can melee 5 times which negates any timing needed to repel a hunter it's like an auto script.

Agreed. I had a game with a couple of french guys and a german. The german ran off at the end and got kicked, then for no reason they booted me too. I hadn't team attacked or got in the way or run off or anything...****en losers
