***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Something really needs to be done with that auto shotty, it is so powerful. 4 with auto shotties and the tank is a waste of time. Only way it can do anything is using cars, or if the boomer has puked on most if not all of them so zombies are causing hassle.

It's a shame really that you can't have anything too dynamic in a game like this otherwise people exploit it. I'd quite like to see a lot of physics objects that the Tank or regular infected can move about but this I'm sure would open the door to all sorts of weird and wonderful (bleh) exploits.

Got 3 wooden crates in a room? Better get rid of them otherwise someone will clip them to a position where they can circumvent a crescendo event.

Got a door that would look cool when the Tank smashes it down? Can't have that because the survivor team will just spend 3 minutes meleeing it to break it down.

I won't play with or against anyone who bypasses crescendo events with these lame exploits, and I'd rather have some frenetic action than sit in a closet with my melee key held down. Bah humbug.

First off, do I do these? No, So shut up.

If the door wasen't supposed to be breakable, they wouldn't have tied an entity to the thing and gave it a maximum amount of damage...Complain to the mappers.

Anyone, if I was in their shoes, I'd most certainly choose that door rather than some eerie lift across a roof :p But I still don't do the door method regardless.

Shut up? Charming...

Where did I say you did? If you read my post you'll notice I blamed people who try to justify these exploits. Which is exactly what you continue to do.

I personally don't care too much about the map exploits in co-op mode only. As soon as you hit Vs mode they become kickable offences in my eye, and repeatedly doing it is just beyond lame (bannable).

Yep, server side. I think it's stable now - had some bugs with it before but ironed them out. I should say however that it's my first SourceMod so your statutory rights are not affected, no warranty expressed or implied, do not pass Go, etc.

The only bad part imo is that it as it's onscreen all the time it can obscure a bit of the info about peoples multipliers when attacking, etc but I figured this was an acceptable trade-off for the info you get. Until the SDK is released or there is some other way of manipulating the HUD that the survivors get at the bottom of the screen there isn't really a better solution (imo).

Lol. Well, that's honest at least :)

I'll install it now. If anyone has issues they can post here or message me on steam (steam ID page link).

I may not get back to them straight away but I'll def read the comment at some point in the night.

Agreed :) Will see what it looks like once it's working and such.

Also, I presume it defaults to enabled? Not much point if not as most people won't know about it :p[/url]
Yeah, default is enabled. It ran ok on my server last night for the game where I was testing it, pretty much ran a full campaign without issues or anyone complaining.

Do you have to install that Infected HUD or just enter the command in console while playing?
If you're just playing the game you don't have to do anything (it's a server-side plugin). If you're a server operator then you just have to install it in the plugins directory.

Yes, charming :)

And it's people like you who try to justify this sort of behaviour that are ruining the game.

How is that not directed at me? I did read your post, and if YOU re-read your post, YOU clearly state that it's people like me who ruin the game...Ask people here who have played with me, and they can all say I play pretty fairly thank you.

I'll say it AGAIN shall I? I don't encourage the 'exploits' or whatever people want to call them. But calling them exploits is stupid, you aren't clipping through walls or parts of the map, or jumping on top of eachother to gain access to unreachable areas, you are using part of the MAP, it is there, so what can you do.

As Aekeron said, in co-op, fine, do what you want...In a vs. match, do 'exploits' and you will be kicked from the servers if that's what he wishes to happen.

It's going on the servers pretty soon but you can always disable it for yourself if you don't like it :)
Actually as it's a server side mod the cvar takes effect server-wide (i.e. it's either on or off for everyone). I'll have a look at adding user-configurable HUD options in an update, assuming it's possible?

Ya, I just read the command, but I'll give it a shot obviously :p

I probably will like it, one thing they definitely need to add (officially I mean) is the time left for infected to spawn, when it just says 'spawning' doesn't really help other people :)

Not sure...I dunno how sv_cheats comes into play.....as the command may be seen as a cheat? Unless you can get it working like say 'ping' and everything else that can be done client side.

I have no idea to be fair.

So it'll just be there automatically without anything on my part being done? Goodie.

Ah right. Crazy stuff :o

Well, Delvis will be able to do it I imagine as he has admin under sourcemod :p

I'm not sure if it's possible to add it as something that can be controlled client-side as I'm new to the source engine/mods for it/etc, but if you find a way it would be much appreciated :)
