***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Yeah game tonight really, waiting on knub's inv of ultimate win most likely :p - most other nights though I get invs from many people when I'm away sow hen I get back there's 5 or 6 invs flashing away in the taskbar. I usually set status to away or afk as such so people know I'm afk!

Strange though as I never get invs when I'm playing GTA4 thorugh STEAM :o
 
Hi guys,

Got a new pc build, now L4D is crashing on me all the time.

I've already tried disabling multicore rendering and running in windows (no borders) mode but same thing :(

Specs:
Intel E8400
Gigabyte EP45-UD3
Ati x1950 Pro
2GB DDR 800 Ram

Anyone got any thoughts or encountered this before?

What timngs are your ram sticks (stock and actual) ?

You may well be better off running at 1:1 ratio (fsb<>ram),
 
I'll be on for a game tonight lads. I must admit that playing DT and DA even though buggy is real good fun. Some crazy stuff happens!

The leeroy games of late have been absolute lulz too! I think on Friday night we played NM, BH and DA just leeroy rushing (as Sharpy mentioned above), such damn genius game. All rush, can't walk back and you can only save your team mate if it doesn't involve "back tracking". Class!!

There are serious lulz you can have with your team. After a proper game tonight, might do a rush game and put all talk on, that should be funzies!

Shall we say circa 8pm gentlemen?

Also , reading above, finally seen Cowell. Thought he was a newish member to the OcUK group. Good lulz and I think he was involved on Friday, although you need to keep your chirp low mate, nobody likes a moaner :p (Although, I can appreciate wanting to do things properly and being a 'stickler' for the rules, sometimes you just gotta let the lulz fly and let your hair down mate).


Edit:- To any new guys in the group or people wanting a "prearranged match" then add me to Steam friends: Knubj3 or Knubje should be fine :) We often do a game a night at least with a lot of OcUK crew!

You tried newest (or older possibly?) drivers? Verifying game files?

Do other source engine based games crash, CSS, TF2, etc?

If not then I'd recommend redownloading the game and verifing. Do you have performance issues in any other game?

Any application event log errors from Windows as to hint at what is going wrong? Is it software/hardware? Do you have any indications?

Drop teh RAm to 667MHz (333MHz DDR) and replay L4D to see if it crashes. if it does not then you have an issue with the mobo and RAM running at stock speeds on stock volts. pehraps raise the ram voltage a bit until you hit the max rated (usually 2.1v from 1.8 stock but check this 1st! for your ram). You won't see any performance drops going from 800MHz to 667 either. your ram will then be running 1:1 with teh CPU (fsb 1333 quad pumped).

Tried newest drivers, but not verifying or redownloading game files. Nothing in CSS or TF2 so think its game related.

Nothing in the event logs either.

I'll give the verify/redownload a try tonight.

I would definatley try the verify game files as that seems to fix quite a few unwanted errors. If it still crashes I would probably delete and redownload.

You sure there are no errors when it crashes in your event log? Most of the time if applications die there is a message there!

a few of us played with that nabil guy the other week, i never want to play with him again

he wasn't even on my team and he was annoying me (and annoying everyone else on the server)

kept calling his own team 'noobs', then he'd run off on his own and get pounced, then never help his own team out..

Ahaha poor old nabz. He is a newbie to the game I hope you all realise? Only played AGAINST him so got lulz from it :)

I'm not defending, but spectulating on his behaviour. As a newb, you join a server and people say "you've taken sonso's spot, please leave" you might not be inclined too. OcUK community is on the whole pretty mature when it comes to not ****ing people over. So you have to give out the respect if you want it back in return.

It's basically a nice place to be rather than in the public domain with joining teams of kids who's voices haven't broken and they vote kick you because they think your a noob or something.

Although running your mouth off at people when you don't have the skills to back it up can land you in hot water :D I'm sure nabz is learning quick enough as a new commer :)
 
i appreciate he may be new -you guys guided me when i started out, so i'm more than happy to help and often give tips to anyone who says they're new to the game

but he had a serious attitude problem.

I would invite people that are away/online but if I saw them in another game I wouldnt as I think they dont want to play left4dead. If they are away/online, worst that can happen is they dont respond.
 
Im up for a leeroy game tonight@8pm. After some more serious ownage of the other team of course.

Already got 67hours in past 2 weeks. Spent ALL day Fri, Sat and Sun, day off on Mon, back to killing and dying on Tue :D
 
Ah I see, well teh problem with GTA4 is usually when you quit the game it does not revert STEAM status back to "online" so it looks like I've been playing GTA4 the entire day :(. basically if anyone invs me and I don't respond, assume afk as I never ignore!
