***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I've put a new config on ocuk3. Makes ingame changes to the way the game plays when operational (capable of being run by any admin).

The Link to Insanity Config Changes from Normal servers are:

Survivor Changes:
-Revival health is now 60
-Revival Speed is faster
-Limping starts at 30 health
-Fire now does expert damage to survivors
-Pills Only, no medpacks except safe room ones

Infected Changes:
-Witch now has double health
-Witch can do 50 damage per hit
-Chance of witch on first level is 100%. On other levels it has been risen to 80% (except finale, which remains at default 75%)
-Tank can do more damage per hit
-Tank burn time doubled
-Tank Spawn chance on 2,3,4 is now 100%
-Tank spawn variation added
-Tanks gain more damage from pipe bombs
-Smoker has longer range
-Smoker now drags faster
-Smoker tongue has more health
-Hunter claw does more damage
-Hunter max pounce damage is increased to 41
-There can now be up to 4 hunters, 1 smoker, 1 boomer.
-Boomer vomit delay should now be removed on spawn
-Boomer Bombing enabled, meaning that it can now jump from a height and explode in a big area.
-Normal infected have more health and move faster

The config can be enabled by running linkconfig.cfg on ocuk3. Currently in beta testing stage, meaning that anything can be changed as gameplay dictates.

The older cevolink config has had the witch health, tank burn speed and smoker fixes reverted back to normal so if you just want a more exciting game (guaranteed tanks etc and no medpacks) with the old game rules then you can still do so. The new config is if you want to play a similarly difficult game to 8v8, but balanced more for 4v4.

I'm all for changes and stuff....But when it changes how the infected act out I find it a bit....weird so to speak.

But hey :)
 
June 25, 2009 - Left 4 Dead Update Released

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Client


Removed an infinite ammo exploit for molotovs


Add-on Campaign Support

Players download third party campaigns as single .VPK file

Players can manage and select add-on maps and campaigns via game UI

Added matchmaking support and download/update prompt for add-on campaigns

Custom campaign support in Leader boards

If not already registered, left4dead.exe registers .VPK extension to allow automatic install of add-ons

Servers and the steam API have been extended to allow servers to send up a list of keys for matchmaking up to 1200 bytes in size


Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools

Fixed missing fgd error

Added vpk.exe command line tool for extracting, creating, and appending .VPK files

Removed info_versus (not used)

Added info_gamemode which fires outputs for Coop, Versus or Survival depending on what game mode the map is loaded in

Updated tutorial_standards example map, repackaged as 'Dead Line' campaign example add-on

Sample content now includes source files for official maps
 
Correct me if I am wrong here but what a waste of an update. I don't even see anything in there that I understand. Where are all the bug fixes?
 
I don't know what they've "fixed", but I started a public lobby with a couple of friends and got no one for 15 minutes :(

Can't see the OcUK servers now even though I'm in the group
 
Anybody else a bit disappointed with this update? I know I am. Doesn't seem like much to have waited for. I would have liked to at least have seen the 4x4 matchmaking we've been waiting so long for :(
 
I've never had a problem until now, but the past few days, I've faced so many annoying people on my team.

One example, me shot dead by another survivor because I shot him by accident in the middle of a swarm. Arse.
