***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Do you have any admin rights on the server btw?

He does on the ocuk ones, but I don't think he was playing on one of those at the time he's complanining about.

I think any Rqers should always be named and shamed to be honest, that way the community at least has some warning that these people don't hang around. I can think of a couple of names myself...

Clans are pretty bad in most games to be honest. Kearney was with me on ocuk1 (css) a few weeks ago when a clan joined and didn't take too kindly to the fact that I was better than them...

P.s. Viewing thread from a different computer, still not available for L4D. ;)

It's a pity that valve couldn't bring in some form of user ranking which allows players to give good or bad marks towards others so at least you could see the eijets a mile off. I suppose such a system would suffer from gross misuse however when we all give the likes of Kearney bad marks after killing us for the tenth time in a row, instantly.

Obvious wallhax :p

I only play on OcUK servers with OcUK members. I don't have time to waste with poor games with stupid over the top rage players.

I like left4dead and the ocuk bunch/servers because it seems everyone is just in it for a laugh. sure, its nice to win etc, but usually a loss will because of some epic fail which is often funny as hell, and not result in rrraaaagggeequits

Any fix on the 'all i hear is that damn horn' audio bug.

Got in a couple of add-on maps but Crash Course is almost unplayable.

You can hear this WW2 style horn loop contantly with all other audio levels reduced to minimum.

I delete the 2GB audio cache folder for L4D. Then let steam check the integrity...it download the 2GB.

Problem sorted but came back last night.

This is on the optimize for reliability profile, I usually have it on optimize for speed and get 9mbps down and 1.5mbps up.

I am able to browse the net, download, stream no problems totally reliable, but gaming is being a royal pain in the *** lately for me and I've had enough.
Can anyone recomend a great isp for gaming and with a good fair usage policy, I'm with bethere at the moment, the usage policy is the best I have come across but for gaming it is not good, can't host games and regulary lose connection, every game of left 4 dead I tried joining the past few days I lose connection, its doing my head in, I think it is to do with packet loss or is that just for wireless, I'm fully wired with wireless disabled.

re-download it again and make a backup of the 2GB files. If the problem returns, restore from backup.

haven't played since April and was really disappointed. Loads of stupid mods on servers and nobody stays to complete a campaign now :(

How do you get that changed?
im still battling with my ISP since they changed my plan

With bethere you log into your account and there is a broadband profile on the screen, click the broadband profile and it gives you 4 settings, speed, standard, reliabilty and gaming mode and you confirm which one within 30 min and it keeps the setting.

I tried all sorts of things on it including updating the firmware for the modem, after searching the issue I been having with MP gaming I found a fix on bethere's forum and it works great so I'm a happy bethere customer again :).

So bethere is an awesome ISP and where the tech support lacks, the user base in the forums make up for.

P.S In Zombie related business who else saw Zombie Land recently? great film :)
:D Awesome film.

Yeah I don't like the stupid mods either, and have seen quite a few people who thought they were in a death match just killing the team mates, but I do like the custom campaigns there are some great ones.

Epic game just now with my sneaky molly witch throw on No Mercy and car smacking tank 4kill :D

Yeah I think I bought the game earlier in the year and still regard it as a great game and play regular, can't wait for part 2 thou :D.

What are the secrets to completing a campaign on Expert?

Me and a group of others have been playing together for a while - we can beat the main 4 campaigns on Advanced and CC on Normal, but we get totally obliterated on Expert.

Is there a large difficulty jump or are we just crap? :p

You sure I didn't clip her with that sniper rifle? :p She seemed to be charging my way hence me shouting "She's after me, She's after me!".

Regardless of the technicalities of who the witch likes more (She's my girl) it was indeed an epic two games. Getting wiped by that tank was shameful though.

Everyone was shouting tank followed by some inconsiderate boomer spewing the seemingly endless contents of it's stomach upon us. This was all topped with a healthy does or vehicular carnage as weaponised cars knocked us all down like a well thrown bowling ball.

Expert is rather difficult to begin with but its just about practice

  • Good team work is essential, stay close at all times if you go off on your own you will soon be dead

DONT RUSH, its surprisingly easy to be caught out by a few stray commons who can really batter your health

Dont go too slowly else you will be ground down by the hoards

Do not carry a shotgun if you dont plan on being careful, 1 friendly fire and your buddy is on the floor

Dont walk infront of anyone unless you know you are safe to do so for the above reason (especially for teammates with hunting rifles as in scope FOV is severly limited and they wont see you coming to aviod you)

Watch out for commons, 20hp per hit from the front hurts. Boomers just run into a safe corner and defend

Fire is ridiculously bad on expert so be careful with the lolatovs

Tanks are just hard on expert, deadly accurate with rocks and will have you down in 2 hits. Fire can just make things worse as on expert it makes them run faster

Sometimes a bit of luck from the ai director is needed such as a nice place to battle the tank rather than a insta spawn

wise words from the sniper lad.

as soon as you hear the random horde sound, shout like **** to all get in a corner or room. thats it really!
oh and in horde situations like that mele much better than shooting most of the time
