Does a single licence allow you to run it on both a desktop and laptop you own at the same time?

I'm sure I've read something along those lines for office software before but glancing through the EULA hasn't shown it.

It's from microsofts student discounted download service (won't say the website because it may be a competitor?) would that be OEM or retail?

I had a read through the terms but nowhere can I see it say you can, or (strangely which is why i'm wondering) that you can't install it on more than one machine, which to me means I missed something?

As with any Microsoft® Office software you buy at retail, you are licensed one copy of the software for use on one device and are allowed to install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device. As with any Microsoft® Office software you buy at retail, you are licensed one copy of the software for use on one device and are allowed to install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

Student Licences are OEM. As with the licences available from Uni. It might be worth you going accross to you uni and seeing if you can get a licence free. At my uni We can have 2003 for free, or 2007 for £35. I also got a Version through the NHS, which is also OEM. I had to phone up to activate it when I changed a hard drive and reinstelled XP.

As far as I know 2007 licences, wether retail or oem should only be used on a single machine. I think the using it on 2 machines thing went out with 2003.

Here is my Office 2007 Retail license:

a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

This was the same for Office 2003 and previous retail versions.

I have Office and it allows me to instal and activate on 3 PC's LEGALLY. So where is the issue? I think that someone has gotten EULA mixed up with the product license terms of purchase. You should check these when purchasing and not crow about it if you think you have lost out on something better. Even Office Home and Student at around £85 is a good deal because it allows the software to be installed on up to 3 PC's owned or part of the same workgroup or family of computers. There are many interprettations but take you pick they all add up to 3 installations on 3 different PC's.

If you are on about 'The Ultimate Steal' promotion then yes you can install it on a portable computer as well:
