Office 365 Price Increase

I have been using Google Docs/Sheet/Slides for years at this point for personal use. Don't miss office at all. For the basic home stuff, it is perfectly adequate.

I do have Pages/Numbers on Mac if i need something local.

Just had the email as well, surely forcing the increase on you while still having the old plan available without telling you is illegal in some way?, they literally hide that old £5.99 option behind the cancellation button and call it "365 Personal Classic", same thing without AI features, bloody disgusting!. All they had to do in an email would have been to ask do you want Office 365 with or without AI features and explain the price, then give the user the option to keep either one. But no, they couldn't even do that without hiding it, scummy move.

The second you press the cancel option, you are presented with this.

I'm good for another 3 years but might just try and pick up one more sub extension to cover the rest of my sons study period. One drive is useful for us all as another picture back up too. I really should start looking at other options but even 2TB of shared storage would cost me £7.99 with google.

Did not realise that you could downgrade to personnel classic.

Have already switched to FreeOffice and it seems to do everything I need, already use Gmail and no longer need Outlook, so I have cancelled my Office 365 renewal.

Just use libre office
Had a bit of a look at Libre Office last night and read a few detailed comparisons between Excel and Libre Office Calc (which is essentially all I need, if I could just buy Excel I'd be happy...) and it definitely looks like, from what people are saying, that Libre Office Calc is 95% of what Excel is and would more than cover most 'Excel power users'.

I'll give it a whirl, appreciate the recommendations from a few here for it.

has it really changed much from office 97 that i have on an old CD somewhere?

I guess people who are self employed need a new version of it but most big businesses should supply access for their staff if needed and for the home user surely an old version is just fine, or just open/libre office or google sheets/slides etc?
