Leaving the monitor out for later, How does this look? Can use external 1tb to back up anything important leaving the ssd for running everything else.. Any thoughts on this?

Thats seems to over spec'd for what you've stated you're using it for. I mean £50 on a gaming case for a work computer??

I recently started a thread asking for the same as you, with the same budget(ish) instantly everyone posted decent specs for my MAX budget, not under it. After speaking to a few others on here I soon realised these were just over spec'd
Why would word need any more than a basic dual core CPU?! Why would you need 8gb for browsing the internet or a gaming case for book keeping??

This is a similar spec to what I went for in the end, and its been perfect for clients needs so far;

1 x Zalman T1 Mini Tower Case - Black £19.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.95
Total : £395.88 (includes shipping : FREE).

IF you need to spend the money spend it else where, get a bigger monitor for example.

Not necessarily, if youre only ever going to do what you are doing now then they may never utlitize the multiple cores a different processor is offering.
Sure you can blow all your budget and hope that someday you might make use of the extra power but I'm betting by the time you actually make use of it an upgrade to the cheaper spec would be more justifiable than spending the extra now. Lets face it - all you need to upgrade is the motherboard and CPU/RAM at a later date if you change sockets, which all that would have cost is the same amount as the i5 you spec'd.

Im all for future proofing and I've included 8gb of ram in the build for that - you could always spec a higher APU; A10 or A8.

I can also appreciate what you are saying - I was the same and started spec'ing Intel builds for what I wanted. Voices changed me.

What's wrong with the i3 spec? You're getting the latest socket which can be upgraded to i5 at a later date if you so wish.

for OP's requirements, especially paired with SSD, even a £50 G3220 would suffice, i3 is plenty. no need for i5 or Trinity.

I'd rather spend the money on 23-24" IPS screen, as that's where he'd be looking all day.
