Office PC's

Dr. sarf - could he not phone up and ask for a different graphics card to be installed in the machines?

Such as the Asus ATI Radeon EAH3450/HTP/256M Vcool Silent 256MB or the 512MB version if he thought he needed it (which he wouldn't)?

Thanks for the advice here. I need this to work with a Samsung 20" monitor (and for the moment a 15" monitor in dual screen mode) so if we need to pay an extra 30 odd quid im not too worried.

Is there any benefits/performance difference between the amd system http://www.overclockers.co.uk/syscon_int.php?prodid=FS-053-OK and the intel system? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/syscon_int.php?prodid=FS-055-OK

We already have an XP o/s from the machine it will be replacing so I don't need to purchase another. When the pc arrives will i just have to put on the o/s and away we go or are there other things i need to know about?

Thanks again.

When it comes to office productivity the intel cpus did just edge ahead of the amd one's
however both of those system's will perform almost identically
i would however upgrade the on board graphics to the 8600gt 256Mb as your not looking at running any games on the pc it should cope extreamly well with two large monitors attached
As for your O/S if you have two copies of win xp pro on cd then all you would have to do is install them on the new systems after removing all traces of them from the old systems of course. However upgrading to say windows vista buisness edition could be a smart move as i believe support for windows xp will be withdrawn by microsft in the summer of 2009 june/july time

The added cost of £55 for each 8600GT is silly for what he needs it for. £25 each on the ATi 3450 seems much better and will still easilly power two 20" monitors. I am sure if he phoned up OcUK they could add those cards instead of the 8600GT.

Not to mention the 8600GT's ocuk sell have fans which would more than likely create a rather distracting noise in an office enviroment ;)
