The way things have been going recently, if it rains, they'll just postpone the start until it's not raining and they can start on intermediates.

Full wets seem to be just for show these days.

Pirelli are bringing new Wet tyres allegedly...

(Also qualifying format tweaks to run H in Q1, M in Q2, and S in Q3???)

I Didn't imagine it -

“Starting from this grand prix, a new compound of full wet tyre will be introduced which will not require the use of tyre warmers beforehand,” Isola explained.

“Track tests have shown even better performance than the previous Cinturato Blue full wet, even without the electric heating of the tyre. The result of studies carried out by Pirelli, it is the first concrete step towards the use of dry tyres without preheating.

“The first centres around qualifying. At Imola, we will be testing a new regulation that requires teams to use a different type of compound for each of the three sessions, with the hards fitted for Q1, the mediums for Q2, and the softs for Q3. This means a reduction – from 13 to 11 – of the sets of dry tyres that each driver has available for the entire event, therefore decreasing the environmental impact generated by the production and transport of the tyres.”

Oh, so there might actually be some racing in the wet. Good.
It says better performance, but presumably all they've done is make the compound work better at lower temperatures. If they haven't addressed the spray "rooster tail" issue then there'll be no racing due to lack of visibility.

What is needed is a decent compound wet tyre but that doesn't lift the standing water as much as the previous ones (even if that means it takes longer for the track to clear)

Edit:
(But that would also ruin "the show", and the randomness of when the track actually does dry and drivers start risking pitting, as it would probably dry more slowly and consistently)

IIRC this one is usually a snooze fest. Fortunately there may be some inclement weather. The whole area from Rome to the Balkans has seen some torrential rain, with some more on the way, but easily off somewhat for the weekend.

Reports are that the pits and track and fine.

Just the paddock for F2 and the part of the village are flooded. It's not really something new to have flooding in the region.

Used to happen close to where I lived in Spain too. Every April without fail.

I think the concern is getting the facilities setup, they're not allowed into the circuit today either, and emergency services are tried up dealing with this rather than being able to be at the track. No emergency services = no running.
Should just do Monaco this weekend, its not as if the track isn't already there! Haha

Seriously though - could easily see a curtailed Sat-Sun weekend
