I can't see Perez leaving or being given the boot. Red Bull are still miles ahead in WCC. Perez is still second in the WDC. Yes, there is a performance gulf between him and Max, but that's what Red Bull want. Until Red Bull lose their performance advantage in race trim, which doesn't seem to be happening soon, then they have no reason to rock the boat by bringing in another driver who would crack under the immense pressure, ie. yet another Gasly/Albon, or someone who may be able to challenge Max and destabilize the team. We've seen already at Singapore and COTA what a baby Max turns in to when the slightest issue comes his way.

A lot of top sportsmen are like that, especially when fighting for a win.

They’ll probably keep Perez into next year and see whether other teams have made enough of a leap to be of concern. Also possible that the 2024 car suits Perez a bit better.

I can't see Perez leaving or being given the boot (snip)
But if things continue next season as they are right now, surely RB wouldn’t win the constructors? Or at least it would be close.

In other words if Max wins a race and Perez comes 7-8th. Those points are not as much as say Hamilton second and Russell fifth. I think. And if other teams are closer to RB then they can run differing strategies to upset Max a bit more etc. I honestly can’t see RB being happy for things to continue as they are with Perez.

As the Merc engine is a bit asthmatic at high altitudes hopefully Ferrari realise they are still a Formula 1 team and take the fight to RB this weekend. I wonder if Helmut has made the trip?… I’m not a fan of Max but he shouldn’t be getting the grief here. He’s a cocky little **** when he talks about race performances between him and his team mate but he can also actually back it up. :D

Apparently Perez's onboard showed him fully cutting the corner at turn 6 in Austin 26 times....

Yet no punishment...
Because it’s not automated and that corner likely wasn’t actively watched. It would also be incredibly embarrassing for the FIA to DQ someone 4 days after the race, plus sets a standard for future review windows.

Basically, FIA need to fix their process.

The Race has good article with response the FIA. The tl;dr is that it's not possible to be certain from onboard whether they cut the corner and the only camera watching that corner doesn't give them a good read. Norris admitted to abusing it. They're going to improve things for next year.

Given that all cars are the same width, could they not have a sensor on centre of the car that would trigger sensors on corners when they are outside set parameters?

They could but didn't we get a SC earlier in the season because one of the cars was still "on the track" according to GPS yet it was parked behind a barrier

Another round of embarrassment for the so called pinnacle of motorsport, it can't even manage to keep an eye on all the corners to see if people are routinely cutting them or not (and it wasn't just Perez, they tried investigating Albon for it too)

Hadjar in AT, Pourchaire in AR, Bearman the Haas, Doohan Alpine and Vesti Merc, heard of Pourchaire,Bearman and Doohan, not heard of Hadjar but i only really follow F1. It's nice to see Team Principles sticking to their guns, Toto said that they'd do the exact same ride height etc again if they had the race over and take his chances.

Anyone know what it was that flew off DR's car on the pit straight?
