Prediction: Max to DRS breeze past everyone to win (after suspect Perez issue) and we go back to usual “second coming of Christ” type fawning.

Formula 1 in a nutshell.

Commentator: "OMG he has done the impossible! Gone from 15th to first. Pure talent. Supreme driving. One of the greatest drives you will ever see".
Reality: "And he breezes past another driver with better grip and a far faster car than everyone else. Yay ".

No doubt which is exactly why Hamilton was gifted 4x WC .

It’s the middle ground that makes F1 interesting now.

Said like the RB fan that conveniently ignores the fact Max hasn’t won a championship fair and square yet :p

Cost caps cheating and having sex with race director is all part of he fun. Like I’ve said middle ground is where the real fun is.

My F1 hero ( and such an underrated driver )has just found his Kungfu - Señor !

Pretty sure if Merc had £500k extra, they would have still stuck to the current bad design - also doubt it contributed much to RBs current dominance. It's petty cash relative to the overall budget.

500k is the official amount. But lets be honest it was way more than that but it was brushed under the carpet..

I feel like the only things you can really say with any certainty in F1 is how good a car is and how well a certain driver can drive that car. Outside of that you are speculating quite a lot.

but the car is made by a team, so in my eyes the car is a reflection of the strength of the team and the people backing them up

Hopefully Aston can give RB a good race here.

It will be interesting to see what updates the teams come up with as the season progresses. IIRC Aston Martin have some 40% more wind tunnel time than RB. Actually more due to RBs additional 10% deduction in aero testing. Typically you'd expect a former midfield team like Aston to drop back as the season progresses, but they might actually get stronger relative to the usual front runners.

Complete speculation though. People who hate RB will tell themselves it was £1billion and several animal sacrifices.

This is why the whole GOAT concept in F1 never makes sense - maybe at a team level, but it's not like other drivers couldn't win titles in the best car. Not all drivers are equal though - some are just a tier above the rest.
