Official 2024 Indycar Season Thread

Feels early the season finishing in Mid September but that's the final race of the 2024 Indycar Season done.

Nice win for Colton Herta to end the season though and another Championship title for (now) 3x Champion Alex Palou; after a lot of build up to a Palou v Power battle for the title it was a bit of a damp squib as Power had to put really early as his seatbelt came loose!

I was really surprised by this earlier, I've not watched every race live but it does seem to be over very quickly this year.

I have watched most of it this year, even if it's just been the repeats during the week after the race but I still don't really feel any different to how I did at the start of the season. It's still a spec formula that just feels amateurish to me.

Its even earlier finished next year! (August 31st) - I've probably seen every race this year but I totally agree about the "amateurish" comment; I see so much stuff that just wouldn't be allowed in F1, from tracks that looks pretty iffy safety wise (and I meant the road and street courses, not the ovals!) - I'm also not that convinced by a lot of the drivers, many of them would barely get a look in over here in F1....

Another great championship to Mr consistency Palou, he’s not great on the ovals but keeps picking the points up.

Herta needs to seriously have a run at this championship next season it’s his time if he is ever going to do it and have a look at F1.

Yeah Palou is massively consistent; I think that's Herta close to actually having enough super license points for F1 now (one of the commentators mentioned it close to the end); that said I don't really think he's good enough but if Andretti ever get into F1 I guess we'll find out!

Yeah I guess without Andretti it’s hard to see who would give him a seat but guess you never know.

The slightly rough and ready nature of indy is probably one of its charms for me (excluding the safety stuff!) it’s all a little less polished and corporate that F1 is now a days.

You’d never get argy bargy in the pits, Will Power flipping the bird to someone or a driver standing on the side of the track waiting for the guy who hit him to come back around so you can hurl abuse at them in F1 :p

This is true, F1 could be described as pretty sterile compared to some of the Indycar antics! Hell even what folk describe as "Max moaning" on the radio would be tame.
