Qatar's Lusail International Circuit, a stone's throw from Doha, was whipped up in just over a year to welcome MotoGP fans in 2004. Fast forward to 2021, and voilà, Qatar's debut in the FIA Formula One World Championship, with a bonus 10-year deal starting 2023.

The circuit? A 5.4-km thrill ride designed for the two-wheeled daredevils but equally exhilarating for the four-wheeled speedsters. It boasts a main straight over a kilometer long—perfect for playing 'catch me if you can' into Turn 1.

Why visit? Well, if the idea of swapping your winter woolies for shorts in November tickles your fancy, Qatar's balmy 28-degree weather won't disappoint. It's an outdoor enthusiast's dream—think karting at Lusail, dune bashing, or camel trekking. For more adventures, our Event Guide's got you covered.

Best seat in the house? The Main Grandstand, where you can soak up the buzz of the start-finish straight, the pits, and the garages. Or, for a front-row seat to the opening act, snag a spot at the T2 Grandstand.

Just a reminder, but consider it a warning - can we not have any further derogatory name calling of drivers, team bosses and the like. We don't expect you to like every driver/team, but at least keep comments respectful.

If you don't follow this warning, you will lose access to the race thread and the thread for the following race as well.

This includes but is not limited to such terms including Lulu, Crashstappen, Karen Horner, Whingey Spice etc.

Outstanding questions for the season:

  • Who will win the Constructors Title?
  • Can Lando hold on to finish 2nd in the Championship?
  • Will Sauber really go an entire season without scoring a single point?

F2 back this weekend as well with a very tight title fight between Sauber bound Gabriel Bortoletto (169.5 points) and Isack Hadjar (165 points) who could be in F1 next season with Red Bull I guess....

They are tumble dryers!
Ferrari to win constructors, Lando 2nd, Sauber zero points.

More importantly why does the header image appear to be full of washing machines?

Is it a subtle hint at money laundering by the AI-generated image?

I want McLaren to win it, but Ferrari will pip them to the post.
Yes, Lando can finish 2nd in the Championship.
Unfortunately yes. :( It is a sad end to the team, but I hope this season was a write-off to help Audi concentrate on next year's competitor.

Just saw another horrific stat for Perez...

Every driver from the top four teams has won at least two Grand Prix this year...

Perez hasn't won one..

It's crazy how well matched the other driver pairings in the top four are in ability and results. They have all been pulling their weight.

Perez has been AWFUL this season.

His stats are even worse than that! Even if you assume the win is off the table because of Verstappen and widen the net to podiums-

Verstappen - 13
Norris - 12
LeClerc - 11
Sainz - 8
Piastri - 7
Hamilton - 5
Russell - 4
Perez - 4 (And they were 4 in the first 5 races when the Red Bull was by far the fastest car.)

Maybe average finishing position looks better? So far for any races finished so excl. DNF/DQ's.

Verstappen - 2.9
LeClerc - 4
Norris - 4.2
Sainz - 4.8
Piastri - 5
Hamilton - 5.65
Russell - 5.70
Perez - 7.9!

Edit: Forgot Hamilton in the average finishing position so now added.

Its pretty clear.
Red Bull driver wins WDC.
Red Bull 3rd in WCC.

How often has that happened?

Red Bull of old would have booted that dead weight ages ago.

My main interest is the alpine, TR, Haas battle.

But I've lost a lot of interest in the f1 meta of last few years. Still races I love. But as forum dies off and no friends interested and loss of f1tv it's just harder to keep the interest
