He brings in a lot of money and will never compete against Max which is bonus for them.

Downside is it's costing them the constructors had they not won drivers championship he would 100% be gone but I can see them giving hm some time next season if hes still very bad they will dump him.

I don't particularly buy the idea that Red Bull don't care about the WCC, but in any case: if McLaren/Norris had been a bit closer Perez could easily have cost them the WDC too. They need Perez to take points off the other drivers too. I find Max's comments about winning faster in the McLaren laughable, but I think it is true that if you did a swap Max for Norris, Max would still win this season but swap both drivers and he wouldn't. Piastri would be taking far more points off he opposite than Perez has managed, and Perez wouldn't be picking up many of the podiums that Piastri did leaving more points on the table for Norris-in-a-Red-Bull and that would count.

Red Bull cannot rely on being far enough ahead next year that Max can win single handedly again.

The thing that annoys me a bit about Max saying he would have won in the McLaren, is that the RB was clearly the fastest car for a reasonable chunk of the season, probably at least the first 3rd of the season.

Max got pole in the first 7 races in a row and won 7 out of the first 10 races. You can tell the RB was the best initially because even Perez managed 3x 2nd places 1x 3rd place, 1 x 4th and 1 x 5th in the first six races

Also, the teams behind were jostling for position at that time so no one managed to get a good haul of points from consistently finishing 2nd or 3rd etc.

Max basically built in an almost unassailable lead in the first 3rd of the season, which was reasonably manageable to keep whilst the car was at least in the top 4 performance wise every race for the rest of it.

I don't even think the McLaren has been consistently the fastest car since then either. It's been up there, but it's been very track specific. This has further helped Max.

Max was very good this season and deserves the championship, but it's a bit of a reality swipe to pretend that he didn't have the fastest car for about a 3rd of the season whilst all the other drivers took points off each other through that period. I have serious doubts that he would have won the season quicker in the McLaren.....

He won start of the season the Redbull was way quicker than everyone took the others a while to start competing

Will be interesting next season if it stayed how it is now McLaren would win, especially with Perez not offering anything to backup Max

You think 'oh what's happened to Max' as you see him in 9th, then scan down and see Perez is now last

Edit - oh missed pre-show, didn't realise he started from the pits, slightly less embarrassing

He was at the head of the cars in the pits though. So he's dropped behind Colapinto in the race.
