He's had a decent chunk of luck from the red flag timing but otherwise, Max hasn't really put a foot wrong here, he's been faster than virtually everyone else (and without needing to push himself so hard he's nearly binned it), you have to give him credit today

That's a pretty insane statement.

Teams build the best car. This isn't build-a-bear where you can put whatever parts you want together and it'll be competitive. If the car is solid, they're not changing it for a driver; they're changing the driver.
