Hmmm I do like the idea but sponsorship would probably get in the way.

I'd have thought it'd be better for sponsors to have stuff more clearly linked to the drivers name?

Also I think Max will lose the number 1 to one of the mclarens which will then set off a chain of people wanting to buy a mclaren jersey with the number 1 on it.

Perhaps, although merch sales aren't that large a part of the overall for F1, are they? Also, Lewis didn't run with the 1, did he? Keeping the 44 instead, iirc.

Why do we have sort of two summer breaks this season? 3 week gap between Silverstone and Spa, and then 4 weeks between Hungary and Dutch.
24 rounds and a season going from March through till 7th December just seems a bit long. So many tracks could be got rid of for being so boring as well.

Verstappen running reduced downforce again looking at Sector 2 times.
I read online that he intentionally runs very low rear downforce as it helps balance the car better to his liking and work around its weaknesses, which is part of the reason everyone else in the #2 seat can't get on with it. How true that is, I can't tell you.

It does seem odd that he'd stick with that approach even on weekends where it seems likely to be wet, and you'd want as much DF as possible, like here and Silverstone.

There is a difference between the two as with the latter one a mandatory three week shut down period for all F1 teams and enforced by the FIA. It's a time when teams must close their factories and halt all car development and design, thus a break for all the personnel. With the former it is just the usual gap that can take place from one race to another in a season and the factories remain open. Yes longer but not unusual.

It's only the crowded calendar that makes it feel odd, we used to get three week gaps quite often.

Oh Lewis, you twonk!

Surely a few cars will have their times pulled, they didn't slow down under that yellow.
