Hungaroring Circuit

The Hungaroring, built in 1985, was ready for racing in just nine months. Initially, the Hungarian government considered reviving the old Nepliget park circuit in Budapest for Formula 1, but ultimately decided to create a purpose-built facility.

The first Grand Prix at the Hungaroring took place in 1986, with Nelson Piquet winning the race after a memorable overtake on Ayrton Senna.

The circuit is often compared to a karting track due to its lack of straights and series of corners. Teams use high levels of downforce similar to Monaco, and a well-sorted chassis is crucial for success. Drivers enjoy the challenge of finding a good rhythm to set fast lap times.

Visiting the Hungaroring in August means hot weather, but there's a nearby water park, the Mogyorodi Aquarena, to cool off. The circuit is also just 20km from Budapest, offering access to one of Europe's most vibrant city centers.

For the best viewing experience, the grandstands on or around the main straight provide views of multiple parts of the track, thanks to the natural bowl-like setting, similar to the UK's Brands Hatch.

Ah, Hungary used to be a good hunting ground for Lewis.... but definitely not this year... Oscar FTW for this one too I predict

I'm attending this weekend with my dad may post up a few pics of the event. Not in the new grandstand we are in Apex 1 which is on the final corner, looking forward to some more Mclaren Domination

Teams orders lost the race last year for Norris, he was clearly the faster driver.
Are we forgetting what actually happened during the race?

Norris started from pole, bottled the start and dropped to 3rd. Piastri led the entire race with Norris not even getting remotely close then McLaren decided to pit Norris first to 'cover off Hamilton', undercutting Piastri as a result.

It was entirely McLaren's fault that Piastri ended up being behind Norris, they even explain to Piastri on the radio they're going to pit Norris first to avoid Hamilton undercutting Lando - and that it wouldn't impact Piastri. If they'd gone with the usual 'lead driver pits first' then there would have been zero complaints.

I like Norris a lot and I really want him to win a world title - but team orders didn't lose that race for Norris, his start and turn 1 did - which he said himself after the race.

I'm not convinced. Had McLaren not given Norris the earlier pitstop then Piastri would just have stayed ahead and Norris wouldn't have been fast enough to pass him. It was only team orders that let Norris get ahead in the first place and then also only team orders that reversed that. You can't just ignore the first half of that. Either way, though, it was a complete mess for McLaren and I hope they don't mess it up in the same way again.

McLaren had the luxury of being in front by enough to do that switch, personally I think in view of the wdc it was the wrong move, they are very fortunate to have such a dominant car this year.

No we are not, but Norris was faster, pole on qualifying and he also was in the race, the advantage Norris had through the undercut was what takes place in many races with the finish being then engineered by team orders. It is a fact that without those orders Norris would have won.

Norris made enough mistakes throughout the rest of the season to make Hungary a non-issue anyway.

Norris wasn't fast enough to overtake Oscar and wasn't fast enough to make enough of a gap to the Ferrari, although in hindsight Ferrari never really had a chance and McLaren choked on their strategy decision. Oscar earned 1st and would've stayed first had they followed the standard "lead car has priority".

I honestly don't know what you're defending. Oscar earned first with the overtake and only lost the position because McLaren made a bad call.
