This is the first application to test CPU performance with some of the new low level Graphics API's.
To explain what that means i couldn't do it better than Future Mark themselves.

So here it is:

Games make thousands of draw calls per frame, but each one creates performance-limiting overhead for the CPU. APIs with less overhead can handle more draw calls and produce richer visuals. The 3DMark API Overhead feature test is the world's first independent test for comparing the performance of DirectX 12, Mantle, and DirectX 11. See how many draw calls your PC can handle with each API before the frame rate drops below 30 fps.
In this leaderboard we will be competing for CPU Drawcalls in Mantle and DirectX 12 separately. (The how fast the GPU is is not relevant to the performance in this.)

For DirectX 12 you will need windows 10.
For Mantle you can run in Windows 7,8,8.1 and 10 but you will need an AMD GCN architecture GPU.
Please note that the performance of Mantle is different in each OS so results will be categorised by OS as well as by API.

Its available here: 3DMark

Unfortunately it is not free. (at this point)

Instructions: use these settings, Only 720P will be added, it gets too cluttered with all resolutions posted.

Not even that. The only thing you can compare results to, is other results obtained on your system. It's not a benchmark, or a ranking tool.

Different CPU's with different performance levels be it vendors or overclocks result in different scores.

would like to test my gtx780 which is currently installed in my windows 10 machine with dx12 but it wont launch that portion of the test :(

Have you updated it? it needs to be build 10041, it should tell you what build it is in the water mark.
Also, Nvidia DX12 Drivers?

@ Triss and Layte

Different vendors and different overclocks have different results. just like any application which calls its self a benchmark, there fore it can be used as a benchmark.

Its no different to using games as benchmarking tools.

You have made your point, i don't agree, so i would appreciate it if you didn't derail this any further.

well found a press release about the driver i need but i'm sure i tried to download it through windows update before and it pretty much made the card stop working.

Maybe contact Nvidia? fire off an Email to them. or use Twitter.

Our systems all perform differently, we can improve the performance of our own systems by overclocking.

We have been doing that and comparing our work to eachothers since the dawn of Computer Hardware, since when did that become a crime? just now it seems.
Really?

If everyones system performed the same i can understand why you two would be so against it, but its not... this thread is about doing exactly what we as Hardware enthusiasts do all of the time and have been for a very very long time.

Why are you guys even here telling me i shouldn't do this, its as if your not even a part of it... dictating something you don't understand.

Windows 10 Build 10041
Driver version 15.200.1012.2
290P 1100/1400
[email protected]

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6381405

DX11 Multi-threaded draw calls per second 1135766
DX11 Single-threaded draw calls per second 1179079
DX12 draw calls per second 22018815
Mantle draw calls per second 20217273

I'm assuming those are at 720P ? what i just realised is that the 3DMark link doesn't say.

I may have to link to posts... :o

Anyway. Done for now. please let me know if you spot any mistakes :)

Layte it's clear from your many posts you have disdain for AMD, if these guys want to do these tests that's their choice, I'm not sure why you think you have the right to tell them they can't?

If you don't like the info don't read the thread, but don't haunt the thread with your negativity it makes you look a bit childish and petty. Simply move on mate

Humbug I have a 290 and a 280x I can test on my 4770k later once I get win10 installed etc

Nvidia guys can take part in this with DX12, in fact we have one on the board now. :)

Anyway, looking forward to your results :)
