**Official 3DMarkVantage thread**

I'll play with my 3930k later tonight when it gets a bit quieter.
Only got 4.5Ghz and 2133 9-11-11-28 1T 113...whatever my ram defaulted at.

What kind of voltage are you guys needing for 5Ghz btw? and what kind of LLC.
I'm using a pretty shocking Asrock Extreme9 board (getting RIVE end of month)

Who said you're going to get 5GHz that easy :p

For 4.8GHz I used 1.425v and 4.9GHz 1.510v to get through the physics parts in 3dmark 11. Allthough they were just quick dirty overclocks and need working on.

Bought a 3930k from MM off a guy who had 5Ghz @1.4v :D
Not sure how true that is as i need 1.37v for 4.7Ghz with level 3 LLC (medium)

Wanted to see how high people were pushing their chips.
Like i said, i'll have a play later tonight :D

Got a chiller coming end of the month as well (gotta pay the bloke yet! :D)

Gratz on your 3930k, I can see some serious benching scores coming soon :D

What you doing with your 3820?

Gone in the MM bud, thought to myself, nice, whipnthe block off, new chip in away i go.. Not likely! Mainly fittings between vrm's and cpu so complete drain down..... Again. Put some qdc's in for gfx but thats not gonna help this time. May chuck another rad in whilst i'm there to comat more heat from the hex.

Gutted i missed that chip, got a ban for commenting in that thread :(

Using a chiller should definitely help in keeping the voltages in check I would've of thought. Let us know how you get on before fitting the chiller setup ;)

Cams chip is still good for 5Ghz+ though, no idea why i didn't but a RIVE though....i saw the Extreme9 for £100 and just went "yes please, take my money!"
The sound card that comes with that board wont output sound via optical so that's put my sound system out of use (doesn't come with onboard sound)...i've also got no spare cash till the end of the month to purchase cams RIVE! so that's a bugger (gotta use naughty card to buy that) all good fun.

So you've got a 3930k and a chiller on the way - nice

Got a chiller coming at the end of the month once i've paid for it (paid a holding deposit) along with RIVE blocks.

Already have the 3930k installed and working in a not so special Asrock Extreme9 board. Hopefully by the end of the month i'll have everything stripped down and rebuilt being cooled by chilled water.

Seemed the most logical thing to do considering my room isn't the biggest and certainly not big enough for the upgraded i really wanted (TH10)

Same here! I need to work on ram tuning aswell. Ram speed currently running at 2400MHz timings at 11,12,11,32 1T.

Which benifits benchmarks the most, higher speeds with loser timings or lower speeds with tighter timings?

Here is some I have done today

I have only adjusted the primary timings, the seconds and thirds are still tight.

I have used 3dmark11 physics test to compare.

Memory @2400mhz 9-11-11-25 1T 96 CPU @5.1ghz 51 x 100, Score 17206 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6402869

Memory @2500mhz 9-11-11-25 1T 96 CPU @4.9ghz 47 x 104.2, Score 16637 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6402817

Memory @1600mhz 9-11-11-25 1T 96 CPU @4.9ghz 49 x 100, Score 15442 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6402709

Overclocking the memory above its rated 2400mhz did very little going to 2500mhz. @2600mhz with slack timings this resulted in a big drop in performance.

Running @1600mhz with tight timings gave very good results (I have seen people using much faster memory getting worse results).

So to answer the question tight Timings seem to make a bigger difference than just using faster memory with slack timings.

Interesting results! Tried the memory @2400mhz 9-11-11-25 1T 96 last night, but the machine failed to boot. Allthough didn't try overvolting the ram at all just ran them at stock volts.

No no! I ment the full benchmark run. Lock stock and barrel.
