I'm surprised there isn't a thread on this already, so I have started one for people to talk about games in progress, results, etc.

Firstly, I am very disappointed that BBC are not covering it any more: the final will be shown live on BBC Two, while the two semi-finals will be available on red button and BBC Three. That's it. I cannot find any reference either to the highlights on matchdays. Personally disappointed. Edit: on British Eurosport.

First game sounds like it was epic though. Angola 4-0 up with 11 minutes to go and Mali catch up to make it 4-4!

With Togo dropping out, I imagine the remaining 3 will play each other and the top 2 will make it through?

Ah, I haven't got British Eurosport on my freeview box, so I couldn't check. But you're right. You can also watch them online. £3.99 for a month's subscription to BE and BE2; good value for the month, but I'm using a 3 internet dongle with limited data usage, so think I'd be going over the limit.

Will it just be a case of playing one less group game?

Guess so, but Yahoo! reports that the team may still come back.

4 goals in 11 mins at international standard and Pele thinks an African team can win the World Cup. Lulz

No highlights?

Couple of surprises today, Malawi stuffed Algeria 3-0 and Ivory Coast held to a draw. Considering the players the Ivory Coast have they should be punishing everyone in that cup.

Some **** on another forum bet on Angola when they were 4-0 up.

FAIL! lol

I think a penalty was taken by a player who ran up, stopped, waited for the keeper to dive, then he scored.

I didn't even know that was illegal now.

The goal counted, the Algerian (I think) keeper went after the ref and head butted him lol.

The Africans are always good value for entertainment and wtf moments. Especially the officials (although in this particular case the decision isn't really outrageous)

One or two odd decisions but Algeria were filthy and deserved most of what they got. That flying two footed challenge wasn't nice

I enjoyed the game :D

HAHA!

Belhajd? spelling, his tackle was just awful.

The keeper should have being given a straight red.

The Algerians were pretty dirty after they realised they were getting thrashed but the penalty should have been re-taken you can't just stop dead like that.
