** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Whats the sound like on these 5 series through the HDMI port, can u get DD 7.1??

I would like to know too! Im thinking of sending an HDMI cable down to my 37" Sammy telly downstairs from my PC upstairs. Would the 5770 send sound as well I wonder? And how do I switch the sound over to the graphics card?(or does it do it automatically?).

I load and activate the profile but the clocks dont change, and it doesnt show the profile as active.

I saw two lots of clock and voltage values, I assume one for each cards. I just increased the minimum to 300 / 900 and from 0.950v to 1.000v on both sets of values, saved it and tried loading, but they still only show as 157 / 300.

yes it does and you can switch the sound from control panel / sound icon in windows (assuming you have a set of speakers upstairs)

Hi, I've just received one of OC's own version of this card and I'm not a happy bunny. Firstly the game or the Ruby doll wasn't with it and now, more seriously, I'm getting screen corruption on both the desktop and within COD. Should I rma the card, please advise....

Power cables in the card in ok? You got a Decent PSU rating?

Using one or two 5770s? If two, take one out and test it by itself, if it works, try the other by itself, if that works then its possibly some kind of PCIE slot issue.

If you just got the one 5770, try your previous graphics card, if no problems then i think rma is on the cards.

Hi, this is bad, the screen is flashing at me psychedelic both in COD and now on the desktop if I set it to 1920 x 1080, if I turn the resoltion down it is ok. What's up, I need it to run at 1920 x 1080 to fit my 40" screen correctly. This is stupid, my old 4870 didn't have this problem...

Hi and thanks for your reply, I'm using one and the same system that previously had ran two 4870's just fine. All I've done is taken out the single 4870 that was in there then put in the 5770 and reinstalled the drivers..

So you get digital sound from the HDMI port of the 5770? is it DD or DTS, and 5.1 or 7.1?

On a side not whats the max res u can get from the HDMI port does it only accept up to 1920x1080 or higher

Yes the 5770 HDMI port carries Audio and Video

Audio I believe is 7.1 but im sure someone will clarify

Video is not limited to 1080p you can use higher res over hdmi, 2506... etc

there you go:

Also AMD's integrated sound device has been upgraded to support HDMI 1.3a
which includes Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, AC-3, DTS and up to 7.1 channel audio with 192 kHz / 24-bit.

Put the 4870s back in and see if the problem goes away. Trial and error :)

Woah.. so if I have a blue ray drive in my pc... and used hdmi through the 5770, it would transmit sound in full 7.1 dts dolby stuff?

well I've never tried it that but yeah lets go with that lol

how you connecting it up you'd need to connect it to a decent 7.1 amp / system via the tv or direct to the amp

i dunno maybe a thread in the audio / video section might help?

So its only series 5 cards, that includes Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, AC-3, DTS and up to 7.1 channel audio with 192 kHz / 24-bit. What did series 4 cards include just PL II?

In which case i might sell my X-Fi Titanium and 275GTX, and get 1 of these, might only have to put a few quid towards it if i get a good price for my x-fi and 275GTX

Ah thats good to know, so would using the sound on the GFX card effect performance when gaming, and i take it the sound wouldnt be as good as a dedicated sound card such as the x-fi?

Sack it, I've ordered another 5770, its going to be at least June I reckon before the market is fully stabilised.

2x 5770's should keep me going till then!
