Seriously EA need to take a look at themselves, they have the finance in place to insure that this doesn't happen on release weekend without making too much of a dent in their profit margins.

Realizing 2 days after 170,000 players have started playing the game that servers can't cope with demand smacks of being unprepared and managed badly.

The thing is it happened on the consoles for the first week, problems connecting to start off with, then when the brunt of people came online, all the servers started having lag issues if I remember (basically the first week wasn't great)

They haven't learnt from lessons!!!
 
One thing that really bugs me is the amount of standard equipment thats now "unlocks"


defibrillator
health packs
tank coax mg
tank smoke screen
engineer repair tool

It seems that some gameplay elements are dumbed down compared to bf2, this is the first bf game that i know off that starts off with the tank pilot only being able to fire the main cannon and not the coax mg as secondary fire. And whats the deal with the medic not having his gear? Hes not exactly a medic without it nor is the engineer without his repair tool.

Just seems they went the mw2 route of " HEY GUYZ LOOK HOW MANY UNLOCKS WE GOT LOLOL"

Heli's still need their sensitivity increased as do tank barrel rotation speeds.

The medic needs to be toned down as well, can get 3k combat points per round easily with all the relevant add ons....

1 v 1 vs a medic and I usually need to take cover else I'll die..
 
All unlocks in BF2142 which was before CoD4 and MW2?

They weren't in bf2, also the tank coax mg was in every bf game as standard equipment, same with the medic, health packs weren't unlockables in bf1942, vietnam or bf2.

Whats the point of a medic with no healing ability or an engineer with no engineering ability, its quite simply, dumb.

And lets face it, 2142 was the red headed stepchild of the series, probably on par with nam.

Personally i think certain classes need a cap, too easy to have a team of medics running around raping all round them.
 
Talking to my friend on vent he is still in a bc2 server (from earlier). Sounds like if you have a connection you shouldn't drop from that server - you've probably been authenticated already so are cool...

I'm sitting here posting yanking my chain and wondering if this is an even worse release than AoC?

The problem I used to get in the beta was that i was kicked almost every other game. It was a total pain, I don't know if it has anything to do with my router or connection but I was forever getting kicked.

Unlocks make the console fanboys happy so deal with it. It doesnt take long to unlock anything that you ask for as standard.
 
Been playing this all day and i love it. I'll try to get on the TFU server over the next few days, be nice to play with people who want to work as squad. Doesn't always work in public servers.

I have to agree with Gerard about Medics, seems a bit pointless to be a Medic and have no means of healing your team mates. People want healing and all you can do is look at them. Would rather they gave Medics just a pistol + Medipacks to begin with and the light machine gun was your first unlock.

Makes no difference, having to unlock things that define your class is totally dumb, medic with no healing abilities.... Next they'll be applying this crap to vehicles, hey heres a helicopter with no rotors... :rolleyes:
 
*sigh* Was going to play on it to the early hours of the morning. Might go to sleep till EA fix it.

All classes get their class-specific abilities within about 30 mins of play. Not really the end of the world to be honest.

But still unnecessary and just them hopping aboard the unlock gimmick.

And at the minute playing for 30 mins is like winning the lottery.

Well, I'll admit that I found it a bit odd/annoying that the ammo pack/med pack/etc were an unlock rather than a default ability.

Unlocks themselves aren't that bad a thing, as long as they don't break the balance too much. It's not like this is a serious, deeply strategic game.... It's designed to be fun... and unlocks can enhance that fun for some people.
 
The one thing that annoys me is the noob launchers. Just the guys that cant kill you by firing bullets so use the noob tube instead. Fair enough at a long distance but not across a room.
