*** Official Battlefield: Hardline Thread ***

What part of my post said anything about not expecting a shooter from EA!!!

I was simply pointing out the fact I'm incredibly disspointed at the release of another Battlefield game. BF4 has had nothing but bad press for a good reason. It's awful!

It's not another battlefield game.

It's another FPS from EA and from a different studio. They've stuck battlefield in the title to cash in. Your comments about BF4 being still in beta are perfectly valid, they're still fixing the game 7 months later

None of this affects visceral who have been working on this game for a while now. It will probably be technically better since it would appear they are making a CS game rather than battlefield with 64 players and tanks, boats & jets etc..

TBH the idea of a special forces/swat team themed BF set on Operation Metro style maps excites me a bit. Sad thing is that Battlefield's original spirit; massive open maps with large scale vehicular warfare will fall by the wayside I think.

You're thinking about this the wrong way.
It's not battlefields ideas going by the wayside. This is a completely separate CS clone with battlefield stuck in the title to make it sell

Leaks, leaks everywhere.

interesting choice of class in the mechanic

Thieves vs SWAT doesn't imply the use of vehicles, you instantly think of some sort of heist / CS type game with no vehicles. So what use is a mechanic in a game without vehicles ?

*edit* Then I read this

http://www.koenv.com/blog/2014/5/battlefield-hardline

Looks like this could have some pursuit type system in it where the thieves have to get away.

Very interested to see what this turns out like.

so looking at the medals, it's just thieves vs. swat with medals for making arrests and for making it back to base with the loot. the usual weapon awards, with some nice new weapons like the tazer and baseball bat. looks like a tanker will be added to vehicles which could be quite fun, aslong as it doesn't blow up too easily.

Updated OP with official info about the game title, full reveal on June 9th at E3.

Very interested to see how this one pans out.

Leaked video

*edit* looks like it was supposed to be called Omaha but they must have renamed it.

It's still up here for now.

Looks like it could be interesting from that. I enjoy the smaller game modes as opposed to the large 64 player ones as your squad can do more.

Just 1 more thing to look out for at E3. Sooo much.

Guy from visceral says the leaked video is 6 months old and the game has moved on a lot since then. More at E3. MOAR!!!!!!!

Wow, that trailer is 6 months old?

The game looks amazing! Minor thing but I bet when you run people over they won't stay on your bonnet though.

I used to love the SWAT games although i'm sure this will be nothing like those, i can live in hope that one day a AAA dev will once again choose to have slow tactical gameplay behind this type of backdrop.

This definatly has the feel of that franchise just more Battlefield style overthetopness if thats even a word :D

Looks to me like it's BF with SWAT uniforms and police cars. Unless they're able to make the game more tactical (and with the current playerbase, that's unlikely) and add things like non-lethal options, it's not going to really make use of the new theme much.

It depends how much say Visceral have. I was told that this video was a kind of idea pitch from Visceral to DICE. DICE are making the multiplayer, Visceral are making the single player and the SWAT concept idea.

Oddly, if that trailer is all Visceral then it already seems to look exactly like Battlefield.

Maybe that info wasn't 100% true though.

I'd certainly enjoy something more tactical. When we get into half empty servers on BF4 it's great fun and I much prefer that over 64 player mayhem. I feel much more in control of my life, and the objectives.

I never played CS at all but I keep hearing that it looks like that mixed with Battlefield 3/4.

Not really sure how Jets fit in with this so that's a bit weird.

The playerbase is the problem really. I've seen loads of really cool online multiplayer/social concepts for games but will they ever work with the general playerbase? Not likely.

If this is too much like BF I won't be buying it as BF4 is still going to be fine by that time. So they need to offer something unique here - I'm sure they realise that though
