Borderlands 2 Announced Thread

Borderlands 2 preview by IGN

Borderlands 2 Wiki

Source: Borderlands 2 Wiki
Classes: Borderlands 2 will have four new player characters. Two new characters have been confirmed, Salvador the Gunzerker and Maya the Siren. Salvador will be capable of using skills to dual-wield any weapon in the game for a short period of time and of increasing the fire rate of his weapons by holding the trigger down. Maya's abilities have not been released at this time.

Plot synopsis: Set five years after the events of Borderlands, Handsome Jack, the game's main antagonist, has taken over the Hyperion corporation, has declared himself Dictator of Pandora, and stolen all of the credit for finding the Vault, going so far to claim responsibility for killing the Destroyer. Jack has also blotted out much of the light on the planet by having a giant orbiting H-shaped base set in front of Pandora's stationary moon. The new team in Borderlands 2 is tasked with killing Jack and returning peace to Pandora. The original characters will make appearances in the sequel as NPCs.

A new element, called Eridium has been confirmed to serve as a form of super currency and a way to upgrade weapons and vehicles. It is said that the most powerful weapons are only able to be bought with Eridium.

Enemies: Handsome Jack - the game's main antagonist.
Arctic Bullymong - a six-limbed gorilla-like creature that will dynamically pick up objects (or rip up bits of scenery) and then lob them at the player.
Elemental skags - certain elemental skags are able to buff other nearby skags.
Marauder bandit - a large thug who makes intelligent use of cover, retreating to find allies when significantly damaged.
Surveyors - floating Hyperion bots who can quickly restore their allies to full health and summon more robots such as WAR Loaders.
Nomad - a slow rotund bandit sporting a large metallic shield that protects his entire body.
WAR Loader - a large Hyperion robot that can rapidly fire missiles and bullets. Can be summoned by Surveyors.
Thresher - a gigantic worm-like creature that is fought in vehicles and can open more parts of the map.
EXP Loader - a man-sized Hyperion robot that acts as a suicide bomber. The player may shoot off its legs in order to slow it down.
Note: CL4P-TPs are confirmed to make an appearance in Borderlands 2. They are upset over the happenings in DLC4 but it is not known at this time if they will fight with or against the players.

Additional Details: In Borderlands 2, the bandits themselves have started making their own weapons under the "Bandit" manufacturer. Their weapons will sport the largest magazines in the game.
Eridian weapons have not been confirmed for Borderlands 2.
S&S Weapons will not be returning for Borderlands 2, their company having been put out of business by the new Bandit manufacturer.
Atlas Weapons will not be returning for Borderlands 2, due to the the fact that the Vault Hunters destroyed it by killing General Knoxx and the Crimson Lance invasion force.

New York, NY – August 3, 2011 – 2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that the sequel to the extravasplosive breakout hit, Borderlands™, is currently in development at world-renowned developer Gearbox Software. Coming to the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC during Take-Two's fiscal year 2013 beginning on April 1, 2012, Borderlands 2 is the epic sequel to the ultimate four-player Role-Playing Shooter loot fest. Combining invention and evolution, Borderlands 2 features all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story. Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.

Eurogamer had already called it, now 2K and Gearbox have officially announced it: Borderlands 2 will be revealed at Gamescom later this month (I’m just about to pester them for an appointment) and released at some point beetween April 2012 and April 2013. Almost no details whatsover – this is how the games industry rolls – but there will be “all-new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story. Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.”

All of these things are good things, though it perhaps puts paid to that rumour a couple of years back that ‘Borderworlds’ was the direction Gearbox were heading in. Maybe they’re just being secretive, of course. A PC version is confirmed, by the way, as well as the inevitable playboxes.

More things I would like to see in the game:

- A better realised story – which is what ‘ambitiously-crafted’ hopefully means.
- Expansion of co-op, both in terms of how you play through the campaign and how you work together.
- A vibe that’s more like the DLC than the original.
- More expansive vehicular elements.
- More life in the towns/hubs.
- Auto-cash collection, instead of clicking over and over.
- More emphasis on the guns being truly distinct, rather than variations up on a few themes.
- Guns! Experience points! Guns! Experience points! Guns! Experience points! Gunperience points!

That's just reminded me. I never got around to doing the Crawmerax mission. My character didn't get to a high enough level.

Teaser trailers out.

Doesn't show much, the first of the chars, (presumable bricks replacement?). Possibility of duel weilding guns?

Yea' I'll try and find it but there is a 10 page magazine spread and it states that char in the video will be able to duel wield any guns in game.

will be getting this  i was told yesterday april aswell also if i could get to texas i could test it but im not in texas boooo :( :p

I wont be getting it unless i can try a demo, I don't want to be sick :(

I see by that PAX gameplay video the FOV is at some **** stupid low level again

so like a lot of games edit it.

no **** sherlock, but it wasn't a simple affair unless you know how. It wasn't a case of just banging in FOV-90, you had to write a few lines then you had problems with it resetting when you ran. So you had to lock it to even more keys. Ended up having a confg file released :(

Still though, a FOV fixed didn't fix my issue nor did the mouse smooth. I think it's because when you run the entire game screen gives that zoom in effect.
