*** OFFICIAL - CES 2013 Thread***

Krait 300/400 is the new CPU architecture (over Krait 200 or Krait v2 as it was known) Snapdragon 600/800 (with 200/400 variants) are the SoCs. Massively confusing! Qualcomm suck beans when it comes to marketing. :D

Ah right - yes very confusing

The Snapdragon 600 is for smartphones, the 800 is for tablets.

That's what I though until I saw this:

800 for smartphones.

^ I put that down to marketing, mind you 5-6" tablets are considered phones these days
Small devices are already struggling to displace heat, single threaded bursts of 2.3Ghz would be nice though.

Come again? :(:eek::confused:

Hehe or about ~15 seconds at 1.5Ghz with all four cores stressed before throttling... (summer temps)

All phones do this, don't worry the N4 got better power profiles fairly quickly.
Quad core phones are just a big marketing ploy in the specs war. Everyone knows this ....but we're not loosing anything by having those extra two cores so it's OK. :D

Just like it was on desktop platforms. Only now has my C2D started to show its age (high end gaming aside), hopefully a i5-3570K @ 4.5Ghz should do for my [imminent] next system :D

Looks interesting but looks massively thick and heavy, no info on battery life?
The hand joypad dock thing is horrible.
Same the non pro only has 64Gb ssd and as far as I can see non upgradable. I7 is over kill. I'm still running an e6300 which showing its epage but copes fine. I'm sure i5 is more than enough.

Looks way too thick to actually use comfortably as a tablet and I gather probably on the heavy side too... Makes it pointless imo.

Beast of a tablet !!!

ASUS Transformer AIO P1810 All-in-One PC & World's Biggest Tablet

Asus got some nice tablets coming out !

I remember reading about that tablet before... Does look awesome, can't imagine wanting one for myself but would be great to use around the house.

I'm so confused why they put android on it, rather than win rt

Also no stand on the back?

What you going to use it for. I can see the benefit of big tablets, like the kids using it to "paint" on. Or a portable tv etc.

That would suit me down to the ground if the price isn't too high, as I expect it will be, I'd only buy at £800 or less and I can't see that happening, may be I'd push to a thousand by whacking some portable TV budget into the cost.

Because Asus literally don't give a moment's thought about anything before curling out another turd of a product.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

I haven't seen anything really exciting at CES yet. Just the usual average stuff that nobody will buy (if it even comes out), the Xperia Z being a good example and also the most interesting device thus far.

I'm really surprised where this sudden urge to build massive heavy tablets with a terrible battery life has come from. None of the promo videos can show a single use for them other than playing a board game or pushing photos around a screen. There's manufacturers who almost exclusively engage in a numbers game - bigger screen, faster processor etc, with absolutely no regard for user experience, quality of the device, or even whether it's something anyone would buy. This comes across abundantly clear when you try to use their stuff.
