Official Conan Movie thread

Poor cast, not interested in it one bit; was always going to be doomed when they were looking at Triple H from the wwe to be Conan :p
 
So this is really going ahead? This movie just will not work unless arnold is conan end of!

Nothing will ever top the first film, the second is ok but makes conan look like a dumbass lol.

EDIT: Only in hollywood lol.... they go ott and use computers to change somebodys eye colour... why didnt they just use good old fashioned contact lenses and save the money lol.
 
Even if you paid me I wouldn't go to see that. There is only one Conan and that is Arnie, he will never be bettered.
 
Although i like Arnie, he was crap in Conan, if you read the original very first book, you will understand why ,Arnie made Conan look like a total pussy.
And they butcherd the original story.
The film should have been much darker and brutal ,not all hollywood razz.
 
This could possibly beat conan the destroyer... in the crap stakes lol. What is it with the fad of using wrestlers for this kind of thing? It just reminds me of that hash fest conan ripp off thing done some years back, it will be hard to take it seriousley imho!

I dont care what anybody says the original conan is and always will be the best even if it does not live up to the books, comics or whatever!

Old numbnuts Arnie will always be conan, it was like he was born for the role.
I think the best line in that film is when the mongel-lookalikes are sat in the tent and one bloke asks whats best in life and Conan delivers the goods, no messing around! I cant see that scene working very well in this new remake, reboot or whatever its ment to be? I will eat my words if it turns out to be good but I really really doubt it :rolleyes:

EDIT: Anyone else notice the voice-over trailer guy is the same one from the start of waterworld, could that be some kind of omen of whats to come?
 
Yeah arny was the best for conan. Not sure i can imagine anyone else being him.

Also its kinda of a the past generation of actors like arny that made older films good. These days its all pretty boys and girls with a ton of special effects hooked on which i hate with modern movies. Small budgets made old films far better as they had less to work with which imo made them better as they had to use every trick in the book.

All the past epic films were epic cos of the better class of actors imo and the old tech they had to use to make films epic.
 
not sure, having played the MMO and read part of the book it really is a great universe.

But at the same time I love arnie and the original. But then he wasn't really that great in it to be fair with it being so early in his career.

So it could end up amazing in its own right or a rubbish remake, appears the be the latter but I will still watch it.

"To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, to hear the lamentations of their women!" :D I heard that quote is actually attributed to Genghis Khan but not sure - that could be an urban myth.

I'm really not sure about this, I've read the Conan books when the MMO came out, the original stories have a very 1930s feel to them that I'm not sure will translate to the modern world if indeed the intention is to base the film on the books. As crap as Arnie was as Conan, holistically the film worked very well, I still think it has one of the best scores of all time. Shame about the sequels lol.

This. & Hollywood, Don't give the role of Thulsa Doom to anybody else either, It belongs to James Earl Jones so there! If you do, you'll make me cross! :mad: :( :rolleyes: :p ;)
 
I wonder if they'll use the same soundtrack. The original score is incredible. I dust off the CD every now and then when I need to blast out some quality drums and horns :D
 
Im going to reserve judgement on this until I have seen it. Being a fan of the books and the original film im going to go in with an open mind. I think it has the capacity to be unbelievably crap or somewhat of a surprise. I personally think some of the cast look OK Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis) and Ron Perlman arent that bad as far as actors go.

Momoa is about to appear in Game of Thrones as well.
